Decisive Communications, Inc. is a turn-key, solution based organization providing a full suite of services to the telecommunications industry. We are currently in need of a Post Wire Technician in Richmond, VA. The Post Wire Technician is responsible for repairing, installing or removing cable or network wiring in accordance to work order instructions and installation specifications.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Installation of new cable or network wiring in accordance to work order instructions and installation specifications.

  • Reconnect/disconnect existing cable wiring.

  • Installation of upgrades to existing cable wiring.

  • Responsible for company and MSO assets.

  • Install new drop changing out RG59 drop for an RG6 or RG-11 drop (digital).

  • Installation of house box at commercial or residential establishment.

  • Installation of Ground and Bond

  • Customer education of new service.

  • Communicate with dispatch and supervisors regarding work day status.

  • A successful candidate for this position is able to work in a fast paced time sensitive environment. Must be able to handle multiple tasks and last minute changes per the customer or corporate mandate. Must have a positive attitude despite adversity and frequent change.

  • Operational hours 7:00 a.m. through the completion of all required work orders. Days may vary based on customer scheduling requirements.

  • Required to complete job assignments for each day prior to completion of operational hours

  • Verification of signal level readings and signal leakage as required.

  • Maintain a clean vehicle and work space at all times.

  • Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures, and instruction.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills & Qualifications

  • One year experience in cable installation.

  • Based upon manufacturer approved ladder capacity, maximum body weight restriction is 300 pounds

  • Excellent customer service skills

  • Excellent written and oral communication

  • Attention to detail

  • Flexible team player

  • Must be able to successfully complete training and/or certification programs

  • Overhead lifting, climbing & carrying ladders with a weight of 75 lbs.

  • Ability to lift a minimum of 75 pounds

  • Ability to work in confined spaces

  • Ability to work in all-weather/inclement weather

  • Ability to walk, sit and kneel for extended periods of time

  • Traveling to surrounding areas to assist with high volume of work is required.

  • Must pass a background check and drug screen

  • Valid driver's license required


  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required
