Postdoctoral Researcher or Senior Postdoctoral Researcher position is available in the department of Chemical Engineering, Department of Physics and Astronomy, and the Center of Computation and Technology (CCT) at LSU as part of a US Department of Energy supported program to build infrastructure for neutron scattering research in Louisiana. The primary responsibilities will be to carry out studies of the coupling of spin, charge and lattice degrees of freedom on quantum materials, complex transition metal compounds and transition metal silicides and/or germanides.
The goal is to understand the interplay between charge, orbital and lattice degrees of freedom leading to the observed phenomenon. This will include ground-state calculations on variety of magnetic states including surfaces, interfaces and phonon simulations. The senior level is expected to lead research projects, write manuscripts and mentor graduate students.
This project will be part of a larger collaborative effort with experimental component of this US Department of Energy program that includes synthesis, neutron and x-ray scattering. Presentation of results at conferences and meetings, and publication are expected activities.
