The Bioinspired Light-Escalated Chemistry (BioLEC) Energy Frontier Research Center (EFRC) at Princeton University was established to unite basic energy science research in order to enable unprecedented opportunities for saving energy in production processes for new fuels and chemicals. BioLEC aims to address the basic scientific challenge of precisely breaking and selectively editing molecules using the power of light.

While this breakthrough goal has long been sought, success has proven immensely challenging because many chemical bonds are too strong to be transformed by the present state-of-the-art chemistry. The BioLEC Center hypothesizes how two (or more) photo-excitations could be used to propel more powerful chemical reactions. To achieve this goal, we postulate that control is essential in order to utilize sequential light absorptions to tune a catalyst "on the fly" during key stages of a reaction.

BioLEC is empowered by a scientific approach that unites basic energy science research-solar photochemistry, photosynthetic systems, and catalysis. Twelve investigators with a wide range of expertise will shift the field from passive solution-phase catalysis to photon-aided catalysis where two-electron chemistry is controlled. We seek applicants for postdoctoral or more senior research positions to join any of the several collaborative projects involving six institutions (Brookhaven National Laboratory, North Carolina State University, Princeton University, Michigan State University, Arizona State University, National Renewable Energy Laboratory) in our Center. Postdocs are expected to serve a leadership role within the Center, including working with the Project Coordinator to provide frequent research progress updates.

Appointments are for 12 months with the possibility of renewal for a second 12 month period. The mission of the Lowell Digital Innovation and Enterprise Learning team is to: • Design and test new online digital experiential learning platforms • Study implementations of innovative third-party tools and platforms • Advocate for and support the inclusion of learning data collection systems and mechanisms in the design of online platforms and educational practices (i.e., rubrics, performance traces) • Conduct Design Based Research (DBR) with the goal of iteratively improving these platforms and/or interventions • Evaluate the impact of the innovative interventions on student learning, engagement, attitudinal measures, achievement, retention and graduation rates A key focus of the team is the development, implementation, research and iterative improvement of novel research-based experiential learning models and online platforms to enhance learning, engagement, and attitudinal outcomes leading to increased student retention, achievement, and completion. The Lowell Digital Innovation and Enterprise Learning team is housed in the College of Professional Studies (CPS) at Northeastern University. CPS seeks to advance lifelong learning opportunities across the lifespan including working professionals and post-traditional students: adult learners, veterans, working students, part-time students, low-income, students of color, students with disabilities, and first-generation students. The postdoctoral researcher will: • Contribute to the design of learning research studies in partnership with principal investigators; • Organize and manage the implementation of one or more externally funded research projects • Create and refine appropriate qualitative data collection tools and methods; • Work with team members to collect and perform integration and analysis of data derived from qualitative and quantitative sources; • Prepare and maintain IRB approvals and compliance • Contribute to proposals, posters, reports and conference presentations • Publish research results in peer-reviewed venues Desired skills: • Ability to work in and lead cross-functional teams integrating a variety of areas of expertise including instructional designers, software developers, faculty, etc. • Experience conducting qualitative user / learner experience field research • Excellent communication skills • Excellent organizational and project management skills • Experience in project management and IRB protocol development • Ability to manipulate and analyze quantitative data using SPSS, SAS, Python, or R and present the data to both scientific and non-technical audiences • Ability to create compelling presentations and reports for both internal and external audiences CPS-Administration and Operations - 135000 Northeastern University Boston MA
