The Larson laboratory has a Postdoctoral Associate opening for an enthusiastic scientist interested in in vivo pharmacology, drug discovery, and cardiovascular biology and physiology. The Larson lab focuses on understanding the molecular, cellular, and physiological bases for cardiovascular and metabolic diseases, and on translating these discoveries into drug targets and potential therapies. The laboratory combines cellular phenotypic characterization, in vivo modeling, biochemical and bioinformatics approaches, functional genomics, and high throughput screening to generate and interrogate therapeutic hypotheses and create drug candidates. The Postdoctoral Associate will work in a vibrant and collaborative research environment and have the opportunity to lead multiple projects. The Postdoctoral Associate is expected to learn and perform physiological, biochemical and genetic experiments in cell culture and rodent models.

Independently designs and performs experiments and procedures with high degree of complexity, demonstrating increasing expertise with a wide range of techniques
Provides independent experimental design and planning
Documents experiments accurately
Contributes to writing of reports and manuscripts with increasing responsibility over time
Works collaboratively across lab functions and trains other junior lab staff as needed
Ph.D. degree in biological sciences or related field of study is required
A research background in cell biology and experience with rodent models is essential
Hands-on experience with rodent surgical models for heart failure is highly desired
Hands-on experience with rodent echocardiography and rodent electrocardiography is highly desired
Experience with small molecule rodent pharmacology (formulation, dosing, bleeding, tissue analysis, etc.) is a strong plus

Excellent presentation, verbal, and written communication skills
