The Resources Management department is seeking to hire a qualified candidate to fill a vacant Postal Clerk position.
The following are specific duties performed in this position:
Receives, sorts, and classifies all incoming and outgoing campus mail including first class, bulk, international, express, certified and registered mail.
Delivers incoming United States Postal Services (USPS) Mail and inter-departmental mail to different University departments and Student Housing residences on campus.
Processes outgoing mail using mail processing equipment; Maintains a working knowledge of the proper and safe operation of automated mail equipment.
Ensures that time-sensitive and accountable mail pieces are handled appropriately, obtaining signatures when necessary.
Assists with the delivery of mail to regional campus when necessary.
Maintains a working knowledge of USPS forms, publications, rules, and regulations.
Maintains up to date knowledge of organizational and personnel changes, temporary address changes, and permanent address changes; Stays informed of customer preferences and location-specific delivery requirements which would affect the sorting and accurate delivery of mail.
Collects, tabulates and reports cost and mail volume data while on postal route, as requested by supervisor.
Reports mail hazards and violations to supervisor.
Keeps postal service area, transportation and equipment clean.

A high school diploma and two years of appropriate experience. Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience. The UCF policy requires completion and passing of a physical exam for this position in Postal Service section only. If minimum requirements of the position do not require post high school education, an applicant is not required to provide the information on the application.
Additional Minimum Requirements Preferences
Preference will be granted to candidates who meet the following criteria:
Five or more years of work experience in a mail service center.
Ability to drive on highway for long distances daily or weekly.
Knowledge in operating mail processing equipment.
Strong working knowledge of the USPS mail classifying categories.
Detail oriented, concise, and processes the ability to logically organize thoughts, analyze situations/assignments and follow directions to independently complete assignments.
Ability to establish and maintain a positive and effective working relationships with others.
Ability to move/lift up to, and in excess of 50 pounds with the assistance of appropriate equipment.
Ability to understand and interpret standard safety procedures.

State Title: Senior Clerk.
Position requires a valid Class E driver's license (regular license). The position may involve driving to various locations on and off campus to conduct university business.
Must be able to drive to multiple locations on and off campus utilizing UCF fleet vehicles. Position will be required to support other campus areas, including all satellite campuses, in times of personnel shortages.
May be required to stand for long periods of time and lift heavy objects such as mail bins, bundles of mail and boxes.
