The posted wage range is the starting wage range only. The full range for the position is $24.02 - $27.98/hour and will increase each year for longevity and cost of living adjustments.

Essential Functions

  • Enter records, such as: court codes and sentencing information into databases.

  • Meet and communicate with individuals after sentencing to ensure understanding of sentenced conditions and provide assistance in successfully completing conditions during pending sentences and/or a petition to revoke process.

  • Establish relationships with service providers in the community to develop robust referral materials and streamline communications between court and providers.

  • Collaborate with staff to develop effective transition between pre and post sentencing, including participating in Shelter Court, Traffic Court, and Pretrial Assistance to Support Success (PASS) meetings.

  • Maintain up to date records, such as: case dispositions, court orders, status of tickets, court appearances, fines, etc.

  • Draft and issue court documentation, such as: warrants, summonses, release orders, etc.

  • Manage and perform the processes of suspending and reinstating driver's licenses.

  • Maintain and distribute court calendar.

  • Monitor court ordered programs; create follow-up referrals for treatment providers.

  • Identify post-sentencing issues requiring follow-up or referrals.

  • Collaborate with the Judges to draft policies and procedures to ensure continued program efficacy.

  • Train Court staff on post-sentencing related topics, policies, and/or procedures.

  • Assist the public, Court staff, Judges, and other agencies via telephone, email, and in person with information regarding cases.

  • Accept and apply payments; balance cash drawer and calculate daily transactions.

  • Provide backup support for Judge's Clerk and Settlement Master.

  • Perform other duties, as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of general office procedures and practices, including data entry, record management, generating reports, etc.

  • Knowledge of, or the ability to learn, general court operations, principles, and practices, including policies, laws, legal codes, regulations, etc.

  • Knowledge of, or the ability to learn, general criminal justice system operations, including tickets, warrants, court orders, sentencing conditions, etc.

  • Skill in utilizing various computer software and databases, including Microsoft 365, and the ability to learn job-specific applications and equipment.

  • Skill in payment handling and reconciliation procedures for cash, credit cards and checks.

  • Skill in organization, time management and prioritizing with the proven ability to have keen attention to detail and accuracy in performing work with adherence to strict deadlines.

  • Skill in communication, in person and writing, with the proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse individuals.

  • Ability to participate in providing collaborative problem-solving solutions.

  • Ability toprovide effective customer service, including the ability to assess needs, apply service standards and evaluate customer satisfaction.

  • Ability to maintain current knowledge, developments, and trends related to specific area of focus and/or assigned projects.

  • Ability to maintain and exhibit integrity and discretion in handling confidential and sensitive information.

  • Ability to maintain and foster a culture of professionalism, adhere to departmental and City standards and specifications, and support a positive team environment.

  • Ability to resolve conflicts with facilitating outcomes while maintaining a calm demeanor.

  • Ability to learn departmental and City of Missoula practices and procedures.

Qualifications and Additional Application Materials

  • Any combination of education and experience equivalent to three (3) years of court, criminal legal, case management experience, or another relevant field.
