Essential Duties & Functions

  • Evaluate issued policies to ensure binding business is handled properly by our agents within the established guidelines.

  • Review issued policies to ensure binding business meets our underwriting and policy construction standards.

  • Analyze all subjectivities in the file to include, Acord applications, Supplemental applications, loss run reports and various required subjectivities to ensure the risk meets the underwriting guidelines.

  • Follow-up on missing subjectivities with the agent after policy issuance to ensure completion and satisfactory results.

  • Review and evaluate Loss Control reports to confirm risks meet Underwriting guidelines and risk appetite.

  • Complete online review of risk utilizing different websites to determine the risk meets underwriting guidelines and appetite.

  • Work with production and renewal underwriters to present findings and help resolve exceptions noted.

  • Work directly with agents to resolve forms issues, missing inspection reports, and missing subjectivities

  • Commence or continue industry formal education by attending, completing and passing Insurance Society and CPCU courses, including underwriting designation curriculum(s).

  • A successful candidate in this role will be able to accomplish the following:

  • Learn the basics of insurance, policy construction, and business underwriting guidelines.

  • Work quickly effectively to review and provide guidance on a large number of transactions daily.

  • Identify and analyze trends with policies and agents and highlight them to management.

  • Build strong relationships internally and across departments as well as with contacts at agents.

  • Eventually be trusted to client face and engage with agents with little oversight from Management.

  • Successfully complete AINS and/or CPCU courses.

Qualifications

  • College degree and 1+ years relevant experience or equivalent

  • Ability to work independently and on a team.

  • Strong analytical skills.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Ability to work from home when required (i.e., high speed internet connection, personal computer).

  • Strong computer skills are a necessity. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Outlook)

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
