Overview

The Bedrosian lab in the Institute for Genomic Medicine is seeking a post-doctoral scientist to join our team. Our translational research group focuses on studying the genetics of epilepsy and other neurodevelopmental diseases using patient-derived tissue as well as murine models. We use cutting-edge techniques including single cell RNA-sequencing, spatial transcriptomics/proteomics, and other genomic techniques. The successful candidate will be engaged in projects exploring the molecular etiology of epilepsies through bioinformatic analysis of single-cell sequencing data and other genomic data. Prior experience with R and Seurat is preferred. The Institute for Genomic Medicine provides a stellar training environment with exposure to world-class expertise in genomics. We are a collaborative group with opportunities to build new skillsets and interact across the institute. Post-doctoral scientist will report to PI.

Responsibilities

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conducts independent research studies and analysis in a specific area agreed upon in conjunction with the principal investigator.

  • Collects and analyzes data in accordance with appropriate protocols and statistical procedures.

  • Maintains organized files, documents and annotates code, and prepares reports, graphs, tables, etc. of the results of studies.

  • Collaborates and interacts with other researchers in the laboratory and across the institute.

  • Prepares scientific publications and grant proposals with regard to a specific area of research.

  • Attends scientific conferences and gives scientific presentations. Serves as a resource person for other investigators and as a mentor to less experienced research personnel. Works toward scientific independence.

  • Performs miscellaneous related duties as required.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE , SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • Education: Ph.D. in the biomedical sciences.

  • Skills and Experience: Knowledge of Neuroscience is preferred.

  • Prior experience with R and Seurat is preferred.

  • Ability to think critically and independently seek information.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects.

  • Team player.

Minimum Physical Requirements:
