The Postdoc responsibilities will include application of a combination of analytic techniques to determine composition and structure of carbohydrates during microbial fermentation. The research will involve the identification and characterization of enzymes that act to hydrolyze or modify plant carbohydrates.
This work involves the application of several analytical techniques including gas and liquid chromatography, mass spectrometry and NMR spectroscopy. The Postdoc will develop techniques to enrich, analyze and deconstruct plant carbohydrates, interpret the results and prepare progress reports. The position also involves oversight and training of undergraduate students in routine research techniques, giving scientific presentations in internal and external meetings, and assisting in the preparation of manuscripts for scientific journals.
Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification in Position
PhD in chemistry, biochemistry or related fields. Candidates with experience in biochemical characterization of carbohydrate active enzymes (GHs) are especially encouraged to apply.
