2 Positions: JNIWL Post-Doctoral Research Associate in Women's Leadership, full-time for 1 year (12-months). Salary commensurate with experience, with health benefits.

Starting Date: September 2024.

Location: Texas Woman's University, with over 15,000 students, occupies a notable position in higher education as the nation's largest public university primarily for women.

The TWU main campus is located in Denton, 40 miles north of the Dallas/Fort Worth area. The Jane Nelson Institute for Women's Leadership at Texas Woman's University is dedicated to preparing more women to take on successful roles in business and public service. The JNIWL institute and its centers provide multiple platforms for women to advance their leadership skills and experience through education, mentoring and networking. Position Details: The intent of the post-doctoral research program is to foster the academic careers of promising scholars in women's leadership, who have recently received their PhD degrees.

This one year position provides the post-doctoral research associate with an immersive academic experience at TWU, which include applied research opportunities in women's leadership and connections with the efforts of the JNIWL and the larger North Texas community. This position will allow research associates to build their teaching portfolios, advance their academic scholarship, and prepare for a tenure-track position. The post-doctoral research associate will benefit from a supportive mentoring program and have opportunities to engage with diverse students and faculty at TWU.

Annual salary of $56,484.

Qualifications: Applicants must receive a doctoral degree in their respective field prior to the start of the appointment, which is anticipated to be September 1, 2024.

In addition, applicants must have at least 18 graduate credit hours in their respective field, which is required for teaching responsibilities. Applicants should demonstrate their scholarly promise (both in terms of teaching and research), the potential to add to the academic community at TWU, as well as how their work fits the goals of women's leadership and JNIWL. Application materials should demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities: Appointment of a post-doctoral research associate in the respective academic host department.

Teaching responsibilities of at least 2 courses per academic year. The post-doctoral research associate will conduct original research appropriate to the host department and centered on women's leadership. They will be encouraged to present and publish work. The applicants are expected to reside in or near Denton/TWU during the academic year to fully participate in the campus environment.

  • 2 page description of a research project or interest that relates to JNIWL and women's leadership, which includes a plan of study that will further a career in higher education and explanation of the particular benefits from an affiliation with TWU/JNIWL and their respective TWU department.

  • Names and contact information of 3 references that we may contact if appropriate at a later stage.

  • Samples of scholarly work should be sent only at our request (which will be at a later stage if appropriate).

Current TWU faculty members and graduate students are not eligible to apply. Scholars who received their Ph.D. from TWU are also not eligible for these positions.
