The PPM Report Architect/Developer creates, supports, and administers relational databases and reports to meet the objectives of the Enterprise Portfolio and Project Services team. This role evaluates and designs existing or proposed systems to structure and access databases. Analyzes database requirements for the user department, applications programming and operations. Recommends solutions that require definition of the physical structure and functional capabilities of databases and required data security and data backup/recovery specifications.
Elicits requirements, designs and develops technical solutions that meet the objectives of the business.
Designs efficient and repeatable reporting solutions for the Planview user community.
Functions independently with minimal oversight and direction.
May instruct and guide lower level technical professionals.
Assignments are broad in nature and complex in scope. Typically designs and develops approaches that are implemented by others.
Partners with other resources across the company on integration projects, as needed.
Deep experience with relational databases and PPM tools and platforms.
Understanding of data architecture of Planview and other ancillary project and portfolio management systems in the organization.
Demonstrable skills with negotiation and creative problem solving
Ability to translate complex data to a general audience; effectively sifting through multiple data sources, analyze it, and articulate the "so what" in terms understandable to non-practitioners.
Expert level understanding of Project/Program/Portfolio Management methods, tools and industry trends.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with cross-functional staff, including IT, other project managers, multiple levels of leadership, business partners, and vendors
Demonstrated ability to identify and understand problems, work collaboratively with team to bring to resolution, and balance when to escalate issues in order to meet project timelines
Requires a process-oriented mindset, demonstrated experience implementing and supporting technical system management.
Ability to prioritize work across multiple important stakeholders and communicating prioritization to the stakeholders
8 years' experience working with enterprise portfolio management analytics.
Deep understanding of database query logic and Portfolio and Project Management tools -such as Planview, Clarity, Microsoft Project Server, etc.
Practical experience working with multiple database solutions (SQL, Oracle, etc.)
Must have strong demonstrated proficiency working with the Microsoft Office Suite, (MS Access) and Portfolio and Project Management tools such as Planview, Microsoft Project Server, Clarity, or similar application is required.
Advanced Excel skills including VBA (Visual Basic for Applications) and Macro Development, Power Pivot, and Data reconciliation.
Strong communication skills required. Able to work well with end users, explaining issues and resolutions in non-technical terms and assisting in development of report requirements.
