The Opportunity:

As the company matures, we are seeking a Portfolio Manager. The Portfolio Manager of the Global Information Services (GIS) team will provide visibility, management and processes which enable the strategic risk/return balance and delivery of a robust GIS Portfolio consisting of short, medium and long-term profitable projects. This individual will be a Strategic Partner for the GIS Leadership Team to ensure strategic direction is set, customer and business needs are understood and jointly agreed priorities are reflected in the GIS project portfolio. This individual will drive the GIS project review and prioritization processes to balance annual and lifetime funding requirements and resources to drive Revenue and EBITDA growth. The Portfolio Manager will support all GIS portfolio reviews; driving process standardization, implementation of processes and ongoing support & maintenance; project updates and reporting; collaborate with finance to ensure project spending processes and visibility, lead the development of the business cases and assist in regular planning cycles. Will drive project management of initiatives and support the overall governance process for project requests and prioritization including support and training of our Project Management tools. The Portfolio Manager will also be responsible for regularly managing select GIS projects as the project manager. This person will be the primary liaison between the individual GIS domains and the GIS portfolio management office to foster optimized portfolio decision-making aligned with Ortho's Corporate Strategy. This position will be located in Raritan, NJ.

The Responsibilities:

  • Lead modifications, planning, implementation, communication and continuous improvement of twice monthly GIS portfolio prioritization process aligned with Ortho's strategic priorities.

  • Support project managers in executing the optimized portfolio strategy of GIS projects to optimize resources and budget and reach targets.

  • Identify and develop new, creative ways to view the end-to-end portfolio that will demonstrate Ortho's value. Utilize internal and external (industry-proven) portfolio management resources to improve Ortho's Portfolio Review Process.

  • Support Senior Leaders using customer, marketing and R&D analytics to enable optimized decision-making. Provide post-launch analytics comparing performance to business case estimates and utilize information to improve projects during regular portfolio reviews.

  • Lead weekly PMO meetings on key GIS projects to track timeline, project plans, costs and projected savings for GIS.

  • Develop project plans, resource plans, financial plans, etc. and ensure linkage to overall global portfolio to ensure delivery of the individual projects on-time, scope, quality, and budget.

  • Deliver regular training on core project management and best practices for leveraging GIS tools and processes to the global GIS organizations.

  • Develop project Key Performance Indicator (KPI) metrics and ensure clear goals setting, dashboard reporting & management and monthly communication of KPIs and metrics.

  • Travel to other Ortho sites to promote collaboration and foster relationships to better decision-making in the portfolio review process. Collaborate with all stakeholders to derive and communicate actionable insights and influence management actions (globally and regionally).

  • Establish reliable PM processes and meeting cadence for the Governance

  • Assist in special projects, business field reporting and communication to senior leadership.

  • Identify, improve on tools for better resource planning, portfolio analysis and project management.

  • Implement and maintain standard project management methodologies & tools.

  • Perform other work related duties as assigned.

The Individual:

  • Requires a Bachelor's degree in Business or Finance.

  • Requires 6 or more years of experience in Project Management, Strategic Planning, Finance, Marketing and/or Business Development. Focus on Strategic Planning, Decision Analysis or Management Consulting preferred.

  • Proven leadership and influencing skills, and ability to work in a highly matrixed organization.

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel, forecasting, budgeting and decision analysis skills required.

  • Strong experience in Microsoft Project (or similar tools) for project planning and execution. Knowledge of Workfront a plus.

  • Strong analytical capabilities, including quantitative and qualitative assessment skills, insight generation and critical thinking skills.

  • Working Knowledge of Six Sigma, Green Belt Certification preferred, to foster streamlined processes and rapid decision-making.

  • Experience developing, implementing and leading business processes.

  • In-depth knowledge of enterprise project and resource management planning & tracking systems and information management systems.

  • Must have significant experience solving business problems and developing and presenting fact-based recommendations.

  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and changing priorities.

  • Ability to interface and build credibility at all levels of the company.

  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

  • Strong conflict resolution and problem solving skills.

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication and presentation skills.

  • Self-initiator, results driven and action & detail oriented.

  • PMP (Project Management Professional) Certification or hands-on project experience is highly preferred.

  • 10-15% Domestic and International travel required.

The Opportunity We are seeking a Senior Global Product Manager to join our Clinical Laboratories Product Management Team, which leads the development and life cycle maintenance of a rapidly evolving portfolio of solutions. Our world-class instruments, assays, automation, and informatics products span all major disease categories providing actionable diagnostic insights that deliver medical value for health care professionals. Reporting to the Senior Director, Product Management, the Senior Global Product Manager provides global marketing leadership throughout the product development process for innovative new assays and instruments. First and foremost, this leader drives key decisions, cross-functional team alignment and key stakeholder engagement on product development core teams from ideation to successful launch and enables Regional Marketing partners to drive sales growth on an ongoing basis. Key responsibilities include: Portfolio Strategy * Develops competitive product/portfolio strategy and prioritizes product roadmap based on full assessment of market, customer and competition. Stays current on market drivers and assesses impacts to product/portfolio strategy. * Defines and validates target customer needs (from Regional Marketing input and market research) and translate the needs into product portfolio opportunities; Develops business cases for new product development projects. * Demonstrates deep understanding of global and key regional competitors' portfolio strategy and product level features, strengths and weaknesses; New Product Development * Demonstrates deep understanding of customer needs, the market, and the competition. * Drives VoC (Voice of Customer) efforts for new product development and develops associated product strategies and priorities. * Defines concepts for new products and/or services based on customer input, competitive analysis, and market assessment. * Translates product concepts into clear product requirements to guide R&D teams. * Influences critical trade-off decisions to ensure new products best meet customer needs and provide relevant differentiation. * Leads a wide range of upstream commercial launch planning and execution activities in close collaboration with global marketing partners. Planning & Execution * Collaborates with Segment Marketing team to communicate and reinforce the strategy supporting product launch through segmentation, value proposition and differentiation for the portfolio and product; * Aligns with Marketing Communications, Segment Marketing & Training organizations to develop best-in-class messaging, tools, and communications to drive product uptake and brand equity. * Collaborates with Medical & Scientific Affairs to drive a publication strategy in support of new products and the broader the product portfolio. Life Cycle Management * Identifies and prioritizes product enhancements. * Collaborates with Life Cycle Manager on management of on-market issues * Applies LCM knowledge to develop multi-generational plan for current portfolio and future innovation to ensure product sustainability and deliver innovation. Anticipates potential needs for lifecycle planning and takes appropriate action with key stakeholders. Business Management * Tracks KPIs on assigned products and shares insights on performance. Identifies opportunities for incremental growth and partners with segment and regional marketers for execution. * Builds business projections based on product portfolio roadmap, market assumptions and product performance expectations. Actively contributes to annual update of the projection and product roadmap reflecting the latest market and internal execution progress. * Provides inputs to demand forecasting, particularly for new product launches. #LI-POST #LI-SC1 The Individual * Bachelor's degree required. MBA strongly preferred, or equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge skills and abilities. * Minimum of 8 years total marketing experience and a minimum of 5 years global marketing with demonstrated success in leading new product introductions and developing winning go-to-market strategies. * Medical sales experience preferred. * Experience in medical device or diagnostics industry strongly preferred. * Proven ability to conduct market assessment and develop and validate new product requirements. * Proficiency in business case development, financial modeling, forecasting and budgeting. * Superior problem-solving and analytical skills. Will be responsible for independently making a broad range of critical decisions. Must apply sound judgment, escalating issues and decisions when necessary. * Experience leading in a matrix team of professionals and communicating with various levels of management is required.
