SCHEDULE: Full Time

TRAVEL REQUIRED: 0% - 25%

COMPENSATION: $57,361.00 to $119,842.00 base salary plus potential for variable compensation. Base pay is determined by your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Farm Credit Mid-America/Rural 1st may compensate outside of the salary range for bona fide reasons not related to membership in a protected class.

About Our Opportunity

Our Portfolio Associate is responsible for portfolio management of complex Food and Agribusiness loan originations, multi-bank syndications, purchase participations and sold participations. This role proactively manages an assigned portfolio to meet constantly changing priorities and deadlines. This role is responsible for communication, relationship building and overall portfolio growth through a focused balance of sales, marketing, and support in the Food and Agribusiness segment.

How You Will Spend Your Time

  • Increase Food and Agribusiness portfolio with new and existing customers.

  • Oversee and manage customer portfolios per industry assignment.

  • Develop and maintain strong rapport with external customer relationships in the assigned portfolio.

  • Coordinate and manage external and internal customer loan and servicing needs.

  • Verify complex loan documentation, loan terms and financial elements are accurate and have appropriate approvals in place.

  • Comprehend the credit narrative, balance sheet, and profit and loss documentation.

  • Create innovative solutions to serve the unique needs of the customer and portfolio.

  • Process new loan requests, renewals and annual financials timely.

  • Complete customer field visits in partnership with sales and credit team members.

  • Attend industry conferences.

  • Provide exceptional service and support to customers and partner with cross-functional team members.

  • Prepare lender allocation information and distribute to lenders.

  • Partner with internal and external teams to confirm loan requirements and due diligence is obtained.

  • Coordinate with bank groups, including maintaining lender contact information and lender allocations in the loan system.

  • Deliver sound credit by maintaining loan files in accordance with association policies and procedures.

  • Prepare lending activity reports for leadership and credit committee.

  • Request, track, and monitor the receipt of financial information including annual financial statements, tax returns, personal financial statements and the quarterly or semi-annual receipt of account receivable / payable agings and borrowing base certificates.

  • Track and manage customer delinquencies.

  • Track required interest rate and monthly payment changes on variable rate loans

  • Coordinate the interest rate and payment changes with the loan servicing area in a timely and accurate fashion.

Minimum Education & Experience

Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, finance, or related field, preferred. Minimum 4 years of successful experience in commercial lending and/or portfolio management, financially related customer service or sales, loan processing or loan servicing.

Mental & Physical Requirements

  • Engage in telephone and face-to-face conversation to serve customers and give and receive information from customers, staff, vendors, outside consultants and the public.

  • Use computer. This involves reading the screen and keying/typing information.

  • Speak and make presentations to individuals or groups on technical subjects related to job.

  • Travel of 10% - 15% via auto or commercial transportation to carry out essential responsibilities of the job.

  • Successfully interact with and represent the organization to customers, staff, officers, board members, vendors, and/or the public at all levels.

  • Provide sound technical advice to customers and other staff in the subject field(s) related to this position.

  • Understand and explain various subject matter and consulting concepts, programs, terminology, and methods.

  • Reason, judge, compare, calculate, evaluate, decide, and critique such information as written material, numerical data, responses to customer needs, and/or other related work activities.
