Executes routine maintenance and janitorial of both the vessels and facilities. Follows up on jobs and consults with Port Captain and Director for support. Manages daily job assignments and duties and reports back status of work assignments. Records jobs status in appropriate programs and maintains records with accuracy.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Perform repairs, overhauls, and upgrades to engineering machinery and equipment in accordance with Coast Guard regulatory requirements

  • Specify and purchase equipment and materials to repair and upgrade dining yachts while meeting or exceeding Coast Guard regulatory requirements

  • Troubleshoot and diagnose main engine, generator, shaft line, ancillary equipment, and minor electrical problems

  • Maintain a comprehensive preventative maintenance program for all equipment

  • Maintain an accurate record of all engineering repairs and overhauls

  • Assist with the renovation and rebuilding of existing Hornblower fleet facilities located within the San Francisco Bay Area

  • Additional job duties assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Maritime Engineering License a plus

  • Ability to get a TWIC and MMC card

  • Three to five years of experience working on machinery in the marine environment desired

  • Microsoft Office proficiency

  • Day's evenings, weekend's and holiday shifts are available. A Flexible schedule is required

Creates an environment that fosters recruitment, training, coaching, development, and retention of highly skilled marine professionals. Develops and realizes marine strategic goals and initiatives. The successful National Director of Marine Crewing, Training and Certification will personally contribute to the unforgettable guest experience, be favorably viewed by supervisors and peers, and be swift and efficient in the execution of their assigned duties. Performance will be measured by safety, quality, service, management evaluation, and feedback from peers on the city's team and customers. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: * Oversees development of marine training curriculum for developing Captains and marine crew. * Oversees development and execution of relationships with Maritime Universities/Academies and High Schools * Oversees Marine Intern program at National and City Levels * Oversees certification and credentialing of all licensed personnel * Works with Corporate People Team to ensure recruiting and retention of Marine personnel. * Works with other Hornblower Group Marine leaders to further the overall marine personnel goals of Hornblower Group Hiring/Retention Responsibilities: * Works with People Team to identify best practices for hiring talented marine professionals to fill all vacancies across the Hornblower Cruise and Events Fleet * Works with local Marine Directors to understand vacancies and assist in identifying appropriate candidates * Works with People Team to analyzes marine compensation to ensure packages are built to attract and retain quality marine personnel * Ensures integration plan for each new hire or promotion according to the established training program Training Responsibilities: * Leads in the development and execution of standardized training of marine personnel across Hornblower Cruises and Events * Develops Marine Learning System to complement On the Job Training and Marine University * Leads development of Marine University * Spearheads Marine University schedule and execution * Ensures all regulatory required training is completed across the fleet. * Develops training aids to elevate crew training * Develops and maintains standard fleetwide training binders for Deckhands, Senior Deckhands, First Officers/Mates, and Captains. * Develops and executes the Marine Crew to Captain development program Training and Certification Requirement: * Ensures all marine shipmates have the proper certification Administration Responsibilities: * Finds and recommends cost saving initiatives consistent with company objectives * Provides a monthly training report to Vice President of Marine Operations Additional Responsibilities: * Participates in fleet wide task forces as requested * Additional job duties assigned Minimum Requirements: * Must possess valid 100 ton USCG Captain's License * Vessel handling and navigation knowledge * Minimum of 8 years of marine experience. * Must include 5 years as a captain with an outstanding record and 2 years' experience managing crew * High school diploma or equivalent, college degree preferred * Coast Guard rules and regulations * Detailed knowledge of shipboard training requirements for navigation, damage control, firefighting, engineering, safety, and security. * Mathematical skills necessary to interpret reports and budgets * Maintain immaculate operator record * Successfully manage crew * Communicate effectively in oral and written form * Analyze and solve problems * Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities/tasks * Establish and maintain effective working relationships as required by job responsibility * Provide advice/opinion and exercise discretion concerning confidential and sensitive matters * Persuade and influence people * Listen effectively, assesses the situation, determine relevant issues, identify solutions and gain consensus * Set aside emotional factors and/or validate them in order to discover key/relevant issues * Work with Microsoft applications Hornblower has been the leading yacht and public dining cruise company in the United States for more than 38 years.
