The Stroke Clinician will practice at BRRH under the supervision of the Stroke Medical Director, Stroke Coordinator and reporting to the Nursing Director of the Stroke Program. Provides direct patient care for patients diagnosed with stroke conditions, including but not limited to ischemic stroke, intracerebral hemorrhage, transient ischemic attacks, and subarachnoid hemorrhages.
Patient care includes daily multidisciplinary rounds in the MNI stepdown, ICU and 9th floor neurotelemetry assuring core measures are met and facilitating the care transitions. Performs detailed neurological assessments and is the primary team leader of stroke alerts and code greys. Assist with providing a comprehensive discharge plan to facilitate proper transition of care with a focus on patient and family education.
Directs patients and families to stroke resources and support groups. Serve as a role model and resource for nursing staff at BRRH. Provide patient and staff education on ongoing basis.
Provides care with focus on clinical excellence, patient satisfaction and patient safety. Maintain current credentialing/privileges, CEU requirements, licensure and Stroke Nurse Certification (SCRN).
Minimum Education and/or Experience: BSN, Minimum 3 years experience caring for stroke patients.
Neurology/Neurosurgery/Stroke experience in critical care area
MSN, SCRN certification
Licensure/Regulation/Certification: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
