Job Description / Essential Elements: Print

OverviewUnder general supervision, to maintain the District's swimming pools and related areas in a clean, sanitary, and orderly condition; and to do related work as required.Major ResponsibilitiesBrushes and vacuums pool and cleans filters.Cleans tile and washes pool decks.Maintains filters and mechanical pump rooms.Test and maintains pool chemistry and water temperature.Responsible for maintaining chemical logs for each aquatic facility..Performs routine maintenance and repairs to pumps, equipment and machinery used in the operation of the pool.Perform routine maintenance on and diagnoses problems with timing system equipment. Assists maintenance staff with major pool repairs and other jobs as assigned.Expected to work with District Aquatic Staff to order chemicals.QualificationsAny combination equivalent to two years of experience in the operation and maintenance of mechanical devices, including six months related to pool maintenance; Knowledge of the methods, materials, and equipment involved in the maintenance and operation of swimming pools; Ability to operate and maintain pools and related equipment in accordance with prescribed standards; Ability to maintain schedules required for proper pool maintenance; Ability to perform normal maintenance and cleaning services of pools and other assigned areas and furnishings; Ability to carry out oral and written instructions; Ability to work cooperatively with others; Ability to operate computer control systems used in pool mechanical pump rooms; Must possess a valid California Class C Motor Vehicle Driver's License. Ability to be trained as or current certification as a Certified Pool & Spa Operator (CPO). WORKING CONDITIONS:ENVIRONMENT:Working indoors outdoors

Subject to heat and coldPHYSICAL DEMANDS:Standing for extended periods of time.Hearing and speaking to exchange information.Lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling moderately heavy objects as assigned by position.Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate food service equipment.Reaching overhead, above shoulders and horizontally.Bending at the waist, kneeling, squatting or crouching. Seeing to monitor pool quality.HAZARDS:Exposure to pool chemicals and fumes.The Education Code requires that a criminal background check be conducted on all persons prior to employment by a school district to ascertain whether the applicant has been arrested or convicted of any crime. Conviction of certain crimes designated as a "violent felony" or a "serious felony" may disqualify a person from employment.

Job Summary: The Food Service Worker - Cafeteria performs a variety of food service functions including but not limited to preparing and assembling food items, setting up stations, serving and replenishing food. The Food Service Worker - Cafeteria cleans and sanitizes workstations, counters, steam tables and other equipment. Relies on established guidelines to accomplish tasks. Works under close supervision. Specifically the Food Service Worker -Cafeteria Essential Functions: 1. Reviews menu on a daily basis and plans for service of items based on service times 2. Serves food to employees and visitors in the cafeteria. 3. Operates cash registers 4. Reconciles cash deposits per cash handling policies. 5. Stocks area with needed merchandise. 6. Operates key equipment throughout the department. 7. Inspects set up for proper selections, attractiveness, palatability and temperature of food. 8. Assists in receiving, inspecting, storing and dispersing food item. 9. Maintains department areas for supplies in compliance with sanitation standards. 10. Follow HACCP guidelines as per policies and procedures. 11. At times may assist in other areas of dept including but not limited to: MD Lounge, Catering, Production, and Patient Areas. 12. Other duties as assigned throughout the Department by the Nutritional Services Supervisor and/or Management team. # Description Minimum Required Preferred / Desired Experience # # # # Previous experience in food preparation, service, and sanitation, plus experience in cash sales. Education # # # # High school or equivalent preferred Training # # # Ability to perform simple math, operate cash register and/or be trained. # Special Skills # # # Knowledge of Basic Customer Service Skills by dealing tactfully and courteously with employees, physicians, and visitors. Good Verbal Communication with the ability to understand and follow oral and/or written English instructions. Must be able to read, understand, and communicate in English information related to menus, use of chemicals, etc... Ability to complete assignments within prescribed time limits. Ability to maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees. Some exposure to toxic/caustic chemicals, moving mechanical parts, potential electrical shock, high pitched noises, needles and/ or other sharp objects, and communicable diseases. Frequent exposure to latex exposure, and hospital approved environmental cleaning products. Needs to be tolerable to extreme temperature changes from moist steam heated environment to cold refrigerator/freezer environment. Very frequent repetitive motions. Ability to stand /walking for long periods of time (6 hours or greater). Ability to stoop, squat, and/or kneel frequently. Ability to push/pull, lift, and carry from 0 to greater than 50 pounds occasionally including pans and trays of food Ability to reach, twist trunk and neck frequently.
