Pool Captain

Objective:

The Pool Captain is responsible for delivering a professional atmosphere of stellar service and to provide food and beverage service to club members and their guests through effective supervision, guidance and training of the Pool hospitality staff.

Responsibilities:

1.Report to work as scheduled, in clean/pressed uniform, and ready to serve our members and guests.

2.Greets and services all members and guests with enthusiasm and friendliness at all times.

3.Makes sure pool and bocce staff show up to work on time and in uniform.

4.Assures that pre-opening, closing, daily and on-going tasks are completed and prepare the Pool for daily member and guest usage.

5.Serves alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages in an appropriate manner consistent with company standards.

6.Help expedite lunch, drinks and kids food following proper food handling and sanitation guidelines.

7.Monitor food and drink quality and presentation.

8.Reports any safety or maintenance issues.

9.Update specials daily, print menus, charge members accounts via the Jonas System and take chits to the clubhouse after each shift.

10. Ensure members, guests, children are acting in a safe manner around the pool.

11. Assist with Bocce hospitality team through Bocce season.

12. Ensure pool towels are folded and ready for use daily and dirty towels are bagged up daily.

13. Assisting with the pool staff schedule.

Member Satisfaction:

1.Ensures that each club member and guest are satisfied with products and services. Works to quickly correct any problem situation. Must be actively "present" for members during service.

2.Addresses any club member or guest concerns to ensure satisfaction in regards to established policies or procedures. Reports all such complaints, comments, suggestions or concerns to the Food & Beverage Director.

Training:

1.Ensure staff is trained on how to provide food and beverage service of the best quality. This includes but is not limited to:

a. Using appropriate social etiquette with members, guests and co-workers.

b. Suggesting and describing daily food and drink specials, weather reports.

c. Proper cleaning of the hospitality areas throughout the pool.

d. Proper procedures of incoming inclimate weather.

e. Proper serving and clearing techniques at tables and lawn chairs.

f. Opening, closing and re-setting procedures.

g. Memorization of member and guest preferences and allergies.

Other:

1.Complies with applicable health, alcoholic beverage, fire and other laws and requirements.

2.Assures that all safety, accident and emergency policies and procedures are in place and consistently followed.

3.Complies with all policies as outlined in the F&B handbooks and maintains a professional demeanor at all times while representing Contra Costa Country Club.

Required Skills/Education/Training/Certification(s):

2-3 years in high-level Restaurant/Club environment

Organizational skills, attention to detail, strong administrative abilities

Ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure

Preferred Skills/Education/Training/Certification(s):

21 years and older

TIPS and ServSafe Certified.

Previous club dining experience.

CPR/First-aid certified.

Food Allergy knowledge.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift and carry at least 50 pounds. Balancing, stooping, reaching, standing, walking, lifting, grasping, talking, and hearing required.
  
  Subject to both environmental conditions: activities occur both inside and outside including, but not limited to indoors, outdoors, kitchen, service areas, and in a variety of weathers. Ability to stand for up to 10 consecutive hours.

Schedule:

Position is seasonal and available from Mid-May to Early October, with the possibility of staying on full-time afterwards if opportunities arise. This is a non-exempt, full-time position requiring the availability to work varied hours including mornings, afternoons, weekends and holidays. Time off is limited during the busy summer months.

Compensation: $18-20/hour PLUS service charge
