JOB OVERVIEW: Greet and assist pool guests with pool chairs, towels, umbrellas and pool service in a gracious and professional manner while in accordance with the hotel's standards of quality, presentation and sanitation. This role must strive to provide anticipatory service at all times. Complete opening and closing procedures and assigned side work. Practice social distancing, observe mask mandates and maintain handwashing routine as ordered by the CDC, Palm Beach County, and the State of Florida.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Consistently provide friendly, engaging, and anticipatory guest service and heartfelt hospitality.

  • Complete opening procedures, sweep and stock the pool area.

  • Ensure the entire pool area is clean and presentable for guests.

  • Responsible for coordinating the entire pool station and communicating front- and back-of-house personnel to provide an experience that meets or exceeds guest expectations.

  • Welcome and greet every pool guest.

  • Provide immediate attention to all guests upon seating in the pool area.

  • Assist pool guests with all service requirements regarding pool functions. These requirements include but are not limited to placing pool chairs, assisting with umbrellas, providing towels, and providing sunscreen.

  • Assess pool guests' needs and preferences.

  • Maintain organization and cleanliness around the pool area.

  • Immediately respond to and correct any potential safety conditions such as a wet floor.

  • Offer and deliver pool amenities to guests in the pool area.

  • Follow up with guests to ensure satisfaction.

  • Provide towels to pool guests and assist them with chairs and umbrellas.

  • Collect soiled towels and transport them to the laundry.

  • Stock the pool area with fresh towels.

  • Observe guests, respond to additional requests.

  • Clean. sanitize, and reset vacated tables or lounge chairs.

  • Remove soiled dishes.

  • Maintain the highest level of standards of quality of products and service at all times.

  • Advise supervisor/manager of any complaints as soon as they occur.

  • Perform closing procedures, complete checklists and assigned side work.

  • Submit orders to supervisor; assist with receipt of deliveries.

  • Slice, pit, and prepare fruit garnishes for pool amenities.

  • Clean and sanitize assigned areas and equipment thoroughly before and after shift end.

  • Assist support staff with polishing glasses and silverware, folding napkins, cleaning and sanitizing menus, etc.

  • Assist guests with pool retail purchases.

  • Monitor and handle guest complaints following the instant pacification procedures and ensuring guest satisfaction.

  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and personal hygiene.

  • Demonstrate ability to multi-task, manage time and work well under pressure.

  • Adhere to local and government compliance with health and safety regulations to ensure a clean and safe work environment for guests and employees.

  • Maintain knowledge of all safety and emergency procedures and be aware of accident prevention policies.

  • Follow outlet policies, procedures and service standards.

  • Maintain a professional courteous manner with all guests and fellow employees.

  • Assist with special and deep cleaning projects as assigned by a supervisor.

  • Perform any other duties as requested by supervisor.

SECONDARY FUNCTIONS:

  • Assist with monthly inventory.

  • Assist Food Runners and Bussers with stocking supplies, removing soiled dishes, glasses and silverware, and cleaning and resetting vacated tables and chairs.

Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Excellent guest service skills and passion for hospitality.

  • Good understanding of steps of service.

  • Ability to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in English.

  • Ability to communicate professionally and respectfully with guests and co-workers.

  • Ability to follow instructions.

  • Detail-oriented and thorough.

  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities.

  • Ability to perform consistent work to the hotel's high standards.

  • Must be able to work weekends and holidays as needed.

  • Ability to maintain personal hygiene.

  • Ability to work quickly and efficiently.

  • Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times.

Desirable:

  • Previous pool attendant experience.

  • Previous guest service experience, preferably in a luxury resort/hotel.

  • Fluent in a secondary language.

Skills:

  • Ability to think clearly, quickly, maintain concentration and make concise decisions.

  • Ability to learn and remember guests' names and preferences.

  • Ability to work cohesively with other departments and co-workers as part of a team.

  • Ability to work in a high pace environment.

Desirable:

  • Food Handler certificate.

  • Responsible Alcohol Service certificate.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking. Frequent pulling, pushing and bending.

  • Exposure to outdoor environment factors (e.g. rain, heat, cold, wind).

  • Ability to use hands to finger, handle or feel, and reach and carry with hands and arms.

  • Able to grasp, lift and/or carry, or otherwise, move goods weighing a maximum of 50 lbs. following appropriate safety procedures.
