JOB SUMMARY:

Under general supervision, the Pool Assistant Manager

  • Lifeguards is responsible for the supervision of all lifeguard personnel and enforcement of all rules and regulations. This position troubleshoots and resolves issues and provides direction for staff and patrons. Maintains daily records of attendance, maintenance, and administrative matters.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides customer service assistance related to pool rules, inclement weather polices, and safety concerns. Resolves patron concerns, and meets patron needs. Ability to handle conflicts with a calm and peaceful demeanor.

  • Follows and enforces appropriate safety precautions to safeguard all City assets (human, environmental, and financial) and ensures all lifeguard personnel are enforcing policies.

  • Assists in maintaining inventory controls for all facility equipment and supplies and reports needs and requests to Pool Manager.

  • Must have interest in obtaining an LGI (Lifeguard Instructor Certification) before the beginning of summer season.

  • Assists Pool Manager and Recreation Assistant

  • Aquatics with staff development by supervising weekly in-service trainings and constantly monitoring skill proficiency.
  • Assumes Lifeguarding responsibilities when necessary.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Thorough knowledge of the pool's safety rules.

  • Knowledge of computer usage, POS (Point of Sale), printers, copy machine, telephones, and pool rescue, cleaning, and chemical equipment.

  • Ability to maintain records and prepare routing reports.

  • Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time in an outdoor environment.

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule and have availability to work mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

High School diploma or equivalent is required plus six months to one (1) year of lifeguarding experience is required. Two years of lifeguarding experience is preferred. Must possess American Red Cross Shallow Lifeguarding Training, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid, and Food Handler's Certificate. Must have a valid Texas Driver's License with a good driving record.
