Job Title: Polysomnographic Technologist

Department: Sleep Center

Position Type: Staff

Hours & Shift: 7pm-7am | 12 hour shifts | 36 Hours


Polysomnographic Technologist Job Summary:

A Polysomnographic Technologist works under the general supervision of the clinical director (M.D.) or designee to provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep study disorders. This may involve polysomnography, diagnostic and therapeutic services of patient care and education.


Polysomnographic Technologist Essential Responsibilities:
  • Performs but is not limited to full sleep studies, titration studies, HSTs, MSLTs, MWTs, sleep staging and scoring using polysomnography equipment.

  • Collect, analyze and integrate patient information in order to identify and meet the patient specific needs (physical/mental limitations, current emotional/physiological status regarding the testing procedure, pertinent, medical and social history), and to determine final testing parameters/procedures in conjunction with the ordering physician or clinical director and laboratory protocols.

  • Prepare and calibrate equipment required for testing to determine proper functioning and make adjustment if necessary (i.e., computers, amplifiers, PAP machines, oximeters).

  • Actively participate in department projects and programs including department inservice education programs as requested.

Polysomnographic Technologist Education Qualifications:
  • CPR certification required.

  • Certification by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist required.

  • RCP background preferred.

  • Knowledge of EEG technology preferred.

Polysomnographic Technologist Experience Qualifications:
  • Three years experience or completion of formal training program in polysomnography required.

Job Title: Diagnostic Imaging Position Type: Regular Staff Weekends: As Needed Hours & Shift: 1st/2nd 36 hours Ultrasonographer Registered Cardiac Job Summary: Under the direction of the Radiologist, DI Administration and/or Lead Ultrasonographer performs a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgement, ingenuity and initiative in the application of non-ionizing, high frequency ultrasonic waves to patients for diagnosis of disease. Ultrasonographer Registered Cardiac Essential Responsibilities: * Move transducer, by hand, over specified area of body and observe sound wave display on screen to monitor quality of ultrasonic pattern produced.. * Key test data and patient information into computer of U/S equipment to maintain record of test results. * Discuss test findings with the radiologist. * Explain procedure to the patient. Instruct and assist patient in assuming physical position for exam. * Set, adjust, manipulate, control and maintain a variety of complex electronic equipment to apply non-ionizing, high frequency ultrasonic waves to patients for diagnosis of disease. Ultrasonographer Registered Cardiac Education Qualifications: * Completed two years of an approved paramedical school required. * Attended an approved school for Diagnostic Ultrasound or have equivalent experience which is accepted by the American Society of Ultrasound Technologists or the American Institute of Ultrasound in medicine is also required. * Within one year of the first day of employment, employee must successfully obtain full ARDMS Certification (including Physics and an additional anatomic specific registry). * Must earn 30 CME credits every three years as required by the ultrasound registry. * CPR - Current AHA Healthcare Provider Certification / equivalent within three months of hire is required. Ultrasonographer Registered Cardiac Experience Qualifications: * 1-2 years working in an Ultrasound environment preferred. * Experience and registration in all aspects of abdominal, pelvic, OB-GYN, trans-vaginal and small parts sonography preferred. * Preferred experience to perform duplex carotid, peri-vascular, doppler, stress and trans-esophageal echocardiography and exams under the direction of the Senior Ultrasonographers and Lead Ultrasonographer.
