Provides care to those suffering from acute and chronic respiratory problems; Performs physiological studies of sleep and sleep related disorders; explains procedures to patients, places, attaches, and Operates equipment, and monitors signals during tests. The position administers questionnaires, completes technician reports, photographs patients and records observations.
1.Achieves operational duties in administrative Functions, patient education, diagnostic assessment, therapeutic intervention, polysomnography study scoring, and polysomnography study reporting
2.Knowledge and skill in the use of digital sleep study equipment utilizing various sensors and monitors designed for sleep disordered breathing detection
3.Proficiency in use of digital sleep study equipment designed to detect stages of sleep and sleep arousals, and periodic limb movement
4.Fit and apply CPAP and Bi-Level positive pressure patient interface devices for the treatment of sleep disordered breathing. Devices include nasal masks, headgear, full-face masks and nasal prongs
5.Progression to Bi-Level positive pressure therapy as indicated by continued respiratory events, including intolerance of high level CPAP pressures, central events, not responsive to CPAP, hypopnea events not responsive to CPAP
6.Apply supplemental oxygen therapy with oxygen delivery devices in treatment of hypoxemia without apparent respiratory events for baseline oxygen saturation correction during stage wake, sleep or in conjunction with positive pressure therapy in the treatment of sleep disordered breathing
Associate's Degree and appropriate sleep study certification.
Registered Polysomnography Technologist (RPSGT) or Certified Polysomnography Technician (CPSGT) as issued by the Board of Registered Polysomnography Technologists (BRPT).
BLS (healthcare provider level) certification, American Heart Association
One (1) year related experience
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Working level proficiency in computer word processing programs such as Microsoft Word
Working level proficiency in the precise application of the standard monitors used in the collection of polysomnography data
