A primary and secondary care hospital serving North Harris and Montgomery counties. Clinical services include cardiovascular services, diagnostic imaging, women's services (digital mammography and bone density studies), neurosciences, pediatric care (Newborn and Level II nurseries) and surgery, pathology and pulmonary services, and sleep disorders. Clinical affiliations include The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center's Radiation Treatment Center, and Texas Children's Hospital.

Position Summary:

Provides care to those suffering from acute and chronic respiratory problems; Performs physiological studies of sleep and sleep related disorders; explains procedures to patients, places, attaches, and Operates equipment, and monitors signals during tests. The position administers questionnaires, completes technician reports, photographs patients and records observations.

Position Responsibilities:
1.Achieves operational duties in administrative Functions, patient education, diagnostic assessment, therapeutic intervention, polysomnography study scoring, and polysomnography study reporting
2.Knowledge and skill in the use of digital sleep study equipment utilizing various sensors and monitors designed for sleep disordered breathing detection
3.Proficiency in use of digital sleep study equipment designed to detect stages of sleep and sleep arousals, and periodic limb movement
4.Fit and apply CPAP and Bi-Level positive pressure patient interface devices for the treatment of sleep disordered breathing. Devices include nasal masks, headgear, full-face masks and nasal prongs
5.Progression to Bi-Level positive pressure therapy as indicated by continued respiratory events, including intolerance of high level CPAP pressures, central events, not responsive to CPAP, hypopnea events not responsive to CPAP
6.Apply supplemental oxygen therapy with oxygen delivery devices in treatment of hypoxemia without apparent respiratory events for baseline oxygen saturation correction during stage wake, sleep or in conjunction with positive pressure therapy in the treatment of sleep disordered breathing

Education:

Associate's Degree and appropriate sleep study certification.

Registered Polysomnography Technologist (RPSGT) or Certified Polysomnography Technician (CPSGT) as issued by the Board of Registered Polysomnography Technologists (BRPT).

BLS (healthcare provider level) certification, American Heart Association

Minimum Experience:

One (1) year related experience

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Working level proficiency in computer word processing programs such as Microsoft Word

Working level proficiency in the precise application of the standard monitors used in the collection of polysomnography data

Position Summary: Performs a variety of routine tasks to support the delivery of safe, effective, cost-efficient patient care as delegated by the RN. They provide assistance in transporting, transferring and lifting. They perform cleaning Functions in patient care unit as delegated, and perform selected diagnostic tests. Position Responsibilities: 1. Provides direct patient care as delegated by RN staff 2. Monitors and records vital signs 3. Assists in providing personal hygiene and physical care needs 4. Accurately measures, records, and reports intake and output 5. Obtains and records daily weight 6. Performs blood glucose testing using blood glucose meter 7. Reports changes in patient's status promptly to RN 8. Performs as patient care companion when needed 9. Assists in the admission, transfer and discharge process 10. Performs unit housekeeping needs. 11. Acts as a runner/transporter 12. Acts as receptionist for unit; has limited use of the hospital information systems according to hospital policy dependent on the need of unit 13. Checks and documents refrigerator temperatures as delegated, reporting variances to appropriate personnel 14. Updates assigned bed status 15. Answers call lights and telephone 16. Keeps patient environment clean, Performs comfort rounds, keeps hallways clear of obstruction, reports safety issues and broken equipment appropriately, and adheres to patient safety precautions 17.
