Eaton's Power Systems Division is currently seeking a Polymer Lab Manager. This position is based at our facility in Franksville, WI. International relocation assistance and company sponsorship will be offered.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $101250.0 - $148500.0 a year.

What you'll do:

The Polymer Lab Manager provides technical and project leadership as a critical member of the Materials Development Laboratory (MDL) team at Eaton's Thomas A. Edison Technical Center in Franksville, WI (about 20 miles south of Milwaukee).

In this role, you will coordinate electrical, physical, chemical, and analytical testing. You will also provide technical direction in the development of a broad spectrum of materials, manufacturing processes and products - with an emphasis on the application of dielectric materials. This role is a centralized resource that will lead lab staff and support product line staff from a variety of teams. The Polymer Lab Manager will report directly to the Materials Development Lab Manager.

  • Leads a team to focus on new product development activities for solid dielectric development that focuses on EPDM rubber, as well as epoxy, silicone rubber, adhesives, thermoplastic materials, ceramics, etc.

  • Coordinates new material development projects and identifies advanced materials and engineering solutions in support of Product and Technology Roadmaps for all product lines.

  • Collaborates and encourages new ideas and differing perspectives; has the ability to consolidate those inputs into a strategic direction.

  • Applies a scientific approach in lab-scale studies to ensure quality of the compounds used in production and ensure the lab-scale technologies can be effectively transferred into pilot production.

  • Champions the Eaton safety program for relevant disciplines. Assists in the development and enforcement of safety regulations.

  • Organizes experiments to solve problems or in development of new products or processes including final data analysis.

  • Evaluates and prepares internal materials specification documents.

Qualifications:

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in materials or materials science

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Materials Engineering, Chemistry or Polymer Engineering from an accredited institution

  • Five or more years of work experience in EPDM rubber formulation in a lab environment

  • Two or more years of experience leading a team as a direct manager or technical leader

  • Experiences in leading cross functional teams to ensure the development of robust products and timely project completion

  • Electrical apparatus design and application knowledge & experience

Skills

  • Knowledgeable in distribution transformers, switchgear, power capacitors, and other power distribution products

  • Knowledgeable in electrical insulating liquid and solid chemistry

  • Working knowledge of electrical and material testing standards (IEEE, IEC, ASTM)

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, presentation and written communication skills

  • Highly motivated, with a demonstrated passion for excellence and taking initiative

  • Knowledgeable in both materials and process technologies

  • Knowledgeable in nanotechnology, such as nanoparticles, dispersion, and application in electrical insulation, etc.

  • Willing and able to travel up to 10%
