This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Facilities, and Security. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.

As a Level II Integration Technician you will be part of a hardworking team of diverse specialists, technicians, and engineers within Polymer Additive Manufacturing. You will become an essential part of our mission in building a roadway to space. We are seeking an Integration Engineering Technician II to join the Additive Manufacturing team, who will play a pivotal role both in the short-term learning phases and long-term execution of Polymeric AM operations. Perfect for methodical individuals with an eye for detail who are capable of brining creative solutions to technical problems. This individual will be the cornerstone in mastering our processes, aiding continuous improvement efforts, and ensuring product quality and process efficiency. This position offers the opportunity to develop within the Polymeric Additive Manufacturing field and contribute to advancements in space technology.

The ideal candidate will have considerable experience with machine operations and preventive maintenance. They should possess an inherent focus on fine craftsmanship related to parts and be conscientious regarding process documentation. Candidates must demonstrate a propensity for adding unique value to our team, filling current gaps, and enhancing overall operational excellence. Special Mentions

  • Initial training to be performed on A-Shift: Monday
  • Thursday, 10-hour shifts.
  • Transition to B-Shift post-training: Monday

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Operate additive manufacturing (AM) machines with precision, aligning with scheduled production runs and quality expectations.

  • Thoroughly document and meticulously record any operational anomalies or deviations from standard procedures for future review and action.

  • Respond to machine alerts promptly, handling tasks such as reloading of build materials and consumables to maintain uninterrupted machine operation.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve build process interruptions swiftly, employing problem-solving skills to diagnose and rectify issues to keep production on track.

  • Precisely configure AM machines for different build profiles, calibrating and adjusting machine settings to match specific job requirements.

  • Perform rigorous inspections of parts against drawing, work order, and command media requirements, ensuring all components meet precise engineering specifications.

  • Create and update job hazard analyses (JHAs) regularly, proactively identifying potential risks and implementing preventative measures to maintain a safe working environment.

  • Remove support materials from printed parts with high precision and document the quality of final surfaces.

  • Identify and report part defects, ensuring proper tracking and management of quality issues.

Additional Priorities:

  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment in line with 5S methodology.

  • Collaborate with multi-disciplined teams, including Engineering, Quality, Production Control, and EHS to optimize manufacturing processes and enhance machine performance.

  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, suggesting modifications to workflows that can improve efficiency and reduce waste.

  • Foster a culture of quality and safety, participating in training and staying current with industry best practices and compliance standards.

  • Maintain clear lines of communication with the internal team and management to convey machine status updates and escalate critical issues as needed.

  • Support the integration of new technology and equipment into the existing manufacturing ecosystem, contributing to the scaling and modernization of production capabilities.

  • Take ownership of inventory related to consumables, supplies, and raw materials.

Short-Term Goals: (First 3-4 months):

  • Acquire in-depth knowledge of Polymeric AM nomenclature, including familiarity with materials, machines, lines, and overall manufacturing flow.

  • Locate and understand the necessary information for Integration Technician duties related to both business and production.

  • Achieve proficiency with tools and systems used in the execution and documentation of work.

  • Rapid acquisition of skills for nominal build setup, teardown, and standard operational workflows.

  • Contribution to 5S initiatives, enhancing workspace organization and efficiency.

  • Establish proficiency in support removal techniques, ensuring clean and well-finished parts.

Long-Term Expectations (First 6-18 months):

  • Consistently meet setup and teardown schedules with reliability.

  • Strict adherence to workorder supremacy and manufacturing process flows.

  • Take ownership of Non-Conformance (NC) reports and documenting anomalies with accurate detail.

  • Act as a key contributor to the advancement of our manufacturing processes via meticulous documentation, minimizing waste, and undertaking projects that require precise attention.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent with six years of relevant manufacturing experience or associate degree in a relevant technical discipline plus four years of relevant manufacturing experience.

  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to contribute to process improvement initiatives.

  • Capable of routinely lifting weights up to 25 pounds and the ability to be on your feet for continuous periods spanning more than 10 hours.

  • This position will be onsite (Kent, WA) for work schedule.

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with industrial 3D printing technology.

  • Proficiency in the use of polymers and composite materials in an aerospace manufacturing environment.

Compensation range for on site WA applicants is $29.03-$40.65
