Duties

Summary

This position is located in the Division of Insurance and Research, International Affairs Branch (IAB) of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and provides analysis on key policy issues addressing the Corporation's relationship and interaction with the international community.

Responsibilities

Assisting with researching and compiling moderately complex data for a variety of projects that includes data analysis and presentation of the full range of policy options, divergent professional opinions, and consequences of adopting various policy positions.
Providing periodic status reports to management, and developing tools to assist in capturing international activities for reporting to other FDIC divisions and offices.
Attending meetings, briefings and providing support to those who present complex policy issues to senior management, supervisors, and others.
Assisting with the response to correspondence and inquiries from regulatory and supervisory personnel, bankers, government officials and members of the public, on matters pertaining to any of the International Affairs functions.
Identifying and explaining information effectively in both narrative and statistical presentations. Using qualitative and quantitative techniques to evaluate data and information.

Qualifications

Qualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sector. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious/spiritual; community; student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. CG-9: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS/CG-7 level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience performing analyses in the financial services sector on various topics in support of staff projects; presenting results in writing or orally to management and assisting with researching, compiling and organizing data for incorporation into final reports.

Applicants may also qualify with a master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related, or by using a combination of education and experience.
CG-11: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS/CG-9 level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience performing policy analyses in the financial services sector, presenting results in writing or orally to management; researching, compiling and organizing data for incorporation into studies and briefing materials, and identifying and recommending solutions to problems.

Applicants may also qualify with a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related, or by using a combination of education and experience.

Ability to communicate in writing for the purpose of gathering information, responding to inquiries, report findings, and making recommendations.
Knowledge of analysis and research techniques, methods, and tools (e.g., internet and financial database searches) to identify, consider, and resolve issues or problems.
Ability to communicate orally for the purpose of responding to inquiries and preparing reports, findings and recommendations to senior management.
