The position is located at the U. S. Mint Police field facility.

The position is responsible for administering the United States Mint Police training programs. Incumbent functions as a uniformed United States Mint Police Officer (armed) and is responsible for the enforcement of federal and local laws. Coordinates law enforcement training programs with the National Training Coordinator, Headquarters office.

Responsibilities

The following are the duties of this position at the TR-10. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.

  • Provide training to United States Mint Police law enforcement personnel.

  • Apply authoritative technical knowledge of a variety of specialty areas of law enforcement such as: Officer Safety and Survival; Communications and Interviewing criminal law; field tactics, detention and arrest; dynamics of terrorism; physical security; firearms; and, physical techniques training.

  • Coordinate law enforcement training with the National Training Coordinator. Also, coordinates special training for police personnel with other organizations such as Department of Justice, and FBI as required, or when determined that United States Mint facilities are inadequate or inappropriate for such use.

  • Utilize a variety of presentation methods including but not limited to: lecture, instructor questions and student answers, instructor demonstration followed by student participation, instructor-directed class discussions, supervised practical application, and visual aids which are discussed and summarized.

The experience may have been gained in either the public or private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements within 14 days of the closing date of this announcement.

Specialized experience: For the TR-10, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the TR-09/GS-09 grade level in the Federal service.

Specialized experience for this position includes:

  • administering and providing pertinent training to law enforcement personnel and;
  • assists the Mint Police National Training Coordinator with liaison at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center, and all Federal, State, and local police training programs.

Specialized experience: For the TR-09, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the TR-08/GS-07 grade level in the Federal service.

Specialized experience for this position includes:

  • experience providing training to law enforcement personnel.

In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:

For the TR-10, you must have been at the TR-09/GS-GS-09 level for 52 weeks.

For the TR-09, you must have been at the TR-08/GS-GS-07 level for 52 weeks.
