Police Officer
Fremont Police Officers have many opportunities to become involved in a variety of different tasks associated with policing and specialized units. Officers in Fremont may serve in Patrol, Field Training, Emergency Response Unit, as well as criminal and narcotics investigations. The Fremont Police Department also has a School Resource Officer Program and a K-9 Program.
The Fremont Police Department is led by Chief Jeffrey Elliott. The department has an authorized strength of 39 sworn officers.
Below the chief in rank are 2 captains, 1 lieutenant, 6 sergeants and 4 detectives. Currently, 1 patrol officer and 1 detective are assigned to the III Corps Drug Task Force, a multi-jurisdictional task force comprised of law enforcement agencies from Cuming, Dodge, Saunders counties, the cities of Fremont, Blair, Wahoo, Yutan and Ashland.
HIRING PROCESS

Interested candidates should submit a completed application packet and submit all required documents prior to the posting closing date. The screening process for police officer candidates typically includes a written exam, physical agility test, interviews with the Chief of Police and/or Civil Service Commission, and an extensive background check.

Candidates must meet all of the state requirements for LEO certification.
