You will conduct investigations (e.g., preliminary, non-criminal) to determine warranted action.
You will detain individuals who are difficult (e.g., violent, hostile, distressed) during a criminal situation.
You will write reports to provide a description of facts surrounding a crime or an incident.
You will write citations (e.g., traffic tickets, disorderly conduct, driving while intoxicated) for individuals who violate the law.
You will warn violators and exercise force to restrain individuals not following laws and regulations.

The DON does not employ individuals for Law Enforcement Officer positions who have been convicted of a crime of domestic violence on or after 27 November 2002. You must submit DD Form 2760, Qualification to Possess Firearms before appointment.
You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.

Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver?s license; and be able to maintain a U.S. Government emergency vehicle operator's license.
Must be able to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
Must successful complete a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.
Must meet uniform requirements; and must maintain program weight appearance and grooming standards per Marine Corps Orders/policies.
Must successfully pass a sanctioned job compatibility/psychological examination.
Must successfully pass a sanctioned physical agility test and medical evaluation; and pass periodic re-tests as required.
As first responders to chemical/biological attacks, must be able to train and wear personal protective equipment to include mask, suit, boots, and gloves.
Must meet medical standards for the Police Officers in DOD 6055.05M and Navy Marine Corps Public Health Center Technical Manual (NMCPHC-TM) OM 6260.
This position is subject to work other than normal duty hours and shirt work which include nights, weekends, overtime, and/or holidays to meet mission requirements
This position is subject to 24-hour recall. Will maintain a recall notification number and is required to respond per installation policy/SOP.
This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.

GS-06: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: responding to calls for police assistance and emergency help, enforcing traffic laws and issuing citations for violations such as speeding: conducting traffic stops and vehicle searches, subduing and restraining individuals, assisting accident victims by providing first aid, and writing reports of incident.
GS-07: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: maintaining order and protecting life and property: responding to emergency calls: complaints and other calls for service during the watch; subduing and disarming those who are doing violence to other persons; conducting investigative stops; gathering and analyzing facts; seizing and protecting evidence; interviewing witnesses and taking statements; conducting preliminary investigations; advising violators of rights; processing accident scene; determining whether facts warrant apprehension/detention or lesser action, and presenting evidence in court.

Creditable specialized experience may have been gained in work on a police force; through service as a military police officer; in work providing visitor protection and law enforcement in parks, forests, or other natural resource or recreational environments; in performing criminal investigative duties; or in other work that provided the required knowledge and skills.
ADDITIONAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
This position has promotion potential to the GS-07 grade. If selected below the full performance level, you may be non-competitively promoted to the next higher grade level after meeting all regulatory requirements, and upon the recommendation of management. Promotion is neither implied nor guaranteed.
You must be able to use all police equipment, certify in the use of radar detection and alcohol detection equipment, field sobriety tests, expandable or collapsible baton, and obtain other certifications required to accomplish the duties of a law enforcement officer.
This position requires rotating shift work.
Call back and emergency overtime are regular requirements of this position. You may be subject to interruptions from meals or other breaks while on duty
