This position supports a 24-hour per day, 7-day a week operation.
Work schedule is variable which includes nights, weekends, and holidays and when the need arises.
SUMMARY
Incumbents answer emergency and non-emergency telephones, prioritize the calls, and dispatch emergency personnel to crime scenes and calls for service. Incumbents also enter and maintain warrants, property files, and citations.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Entry-level applicants:
High School Diploma or G.E.D., and one year high volume, telephone and keyboarding experience. Additional education cannot be substituted for experience.
Lateral applicants:
High School Diploma or G.E.D., and two years experience as a public safety dispatcher in a law enforcement agency. Additional education cannot be substituted for experience.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must have or be able to attain Arizona Criminal Justice Information System (ACJIS) Terminal Operator Certification (TOC), Level A, within six months of hire.
SELECTION PROCESS
Applicants whose education, training and experience most closely meet the needs of the position may be invited to participate in a selection process to include a panel interview and an assessment exercise.
