This is a full-time non-exempt position at the Broomfield Detention and Training Center. The incumbent performs a wide variety of administrative and staff support work at the front desk including assisting inmates, inmate families, attorneys and other law enforcement personnel, bond agents, and the general public with questions and concerns both by phone and in person at the walk-up counter. This position works closely with Detention officers, sergeants and commanders, as well as other Detention Center personnel on a daily basis to handle bond paperwork, in person and virtual inmate visits, screening visitors who must enter the secure perimeter, scanning of inmate files, updating various spreadsheets, and other questions and projects as required. This position is generally scheduled 8:00 a.m.

Hiring Range: $20.49 - $27.73/hour

Essential Required Tasks/Examples of Duties
Under direct/close supervision, may perform the following tasks (listed tasks are illustrative only and it not a comprehensive list of functions and tasks performed in this class):
Routine receptionist/clerical/administrative tasks that may include providing customer assistance and information, data entry, cashiering, bookkeeping, sorting mail, preparation of routine correspondence and reports in accordance with standard procedures.
Assists walk up customers with a variety of questions including inmate visitations, inmate account questions, bond amounts and bond payments, and other general topics.
Screens, refers or responds to telephone inquiries and determines most appropriate response to questions and routes calls or visitors to appropriate departments
Arranges appointments and greets customers.
Handles incoming and outgoing mail, including reading and monitoring incoming inmate mail and preparing it to be given to inmates making sure it meets all requirements to be in the secure perimeter of the jail. Ensures outgoing inmate mail is logged in the jail management system and prepares it for outgoing mail pick-up.
Maintains files and record systems and may assist in the maintenance of various records such as inventory, activity reports, receipts, memberships, and customer accounts.
Enters inmate medical expenses into the jail accounting system from a report received from the jail medical team.
Operates multi-line phones, printer, copier, and basic computer applications including word processing and spreadsheets.
May perform typing, filing-physical and electronic, and copying activities
Assists with departmental lunches, retirements, promotions and other events by ordering and picking up food and supplies.
Drives to the Police Department on a daily basis to deliver bonds, mail, uniform and equipment orders, and to pick up mail that needs to come back to the Detention Center.
May be required to work overtime.

Any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides evidence that the applicant possesses the Necessary Applicant Traits.
Necessary Special Requirements: Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and a safe driving record for continued employment. New hires must, as a condition of employment, pass the following pre-offer and post-offer/hire processes: typing test, written evaluation, oral board, reference checks, driving record check through DMV, criminal background checks, sex-offender registry check, polygraph or CVSA examination, and fingerprint checks through CBI/FBI. Must be a Notary Public or complete testing and become a Notary Public within 3 months of employment.
Working Conditions
The noise level in the environment is usually quiet.
Work is generally scheduled Monday through Friday with some evening, weekend, and holiday hours.
Working in the Detention Center involves being exposed to a variety of difficult situations which may include upset inmates or inmate families
The employee may operate a motor vehicle while traveling between work locations and while running errands.
Data entry and other tasks may require sitting at a computer for several hours.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
