The Maintenance Engineer assists in the maintenance, repair, refurbishment, renovation, remodeling and general upkeep in order to keep the facility functional and attractive to prospective customers.

Knowledge/Skills

Working knowledge of general plumbing refrigeration air conditioning electrical systems boilers bathroom fixtures and tiling painting -prep to finish basic carpentry grounds keeping.

Ability to drive and holds a valid Class C state drivers license.

Have vision to read written communiques, LED read-outs, meters, and computer screens.

Have finger, hand and upper body dexterity to pull levers and rotate knobs, work with arms raised above head and to handle and assemble small parts using basic hand and power tools.

Ability to understand and follow verbal/written instructions, communicate both verbally and in writing, utilize analytical thought processes, understand verbal/written technical and mechanical instruction, and be highly organized.

Have ability to communicate effectively and courteously with employees, guests and contractors in writing, via telephone and in person.

Abilities

Lifting, pushing, pulling and carrying required frequently to respond to service requests anywhere on property.

Frequent bending and kneeling required to perform inspections and repairs. 100% mobility required -must respond quickly to emergency.

Potential continuous standing may be required.

Climbing stairs of approximately 90 steps 20% of 8 hours.

Climbing ladders of approximately 8 feet 10% of 8 hours.

Driving -sometimes necessary to drive company pick-up truck/snow plow approximately 10% of time, unless snow emergency, then 100% of time.

Education/Formal Training

High school diploma or equivalent trade school, special courses in building maintenance and construction.

Experience

A minimum of 6 months experience in equal or similar position.

Scheduled days and times may vary based on need.

Material/Equipment Used

Basis hand and power tools. Painting equipment, key cutting machine, grounds keeping equipment and snow removal equipment. Exposure to hazardous materials on a daily basis.

Chemicals/Agents used: Various chemicals 2-3 times per week.

Regular chemicals: solvents, adhesives, paints. Protective clothing worn 100% of day; protective gloves worn approximately. Lifts and scaffolds.

Environment

Indoor exposure to both stable and extreme variance of hot and cold temperatures. Outside exposure to all weather elements and extreme fluctuations of temperature. Prolonged standing, walking, bending, reaching, and heavy lifting.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following: ____1. Contributes to the effective implementation of individual treatment plans of clients through "line of sight" supervision, positive interaction and role modeling, appropriate recording of observed behaviors, and appropriate consequences or limit setting based on behaviors and program definition. ____2. Maintains safety and security of the facility through close observation and monitoring of the clients, maintaining optimal physical proximity, remaining alert at all times, and using analytical forethought to anticipate potentially volatile or unsafe situations and proactively intervene. ____3. Promotes development of clients' daily living skills through appropriate assignment, instruction, and supervision of tasks. ____4. Stimulates clients' interest and cooperation in various individual and group activities and programs through positive interaction, instruction, supervision, feedback and encouragement. ____5. Completes accurate and timely documentation on client's behavior as outlined by policy, reports observations to relevant staff and makes recommendations based on observations. Assists in preparation of other behavioral reports and daily activities log as required. ____6. Develops counseling skill methods and techniques under the supervision of program treatment professionals to facilitate psychoeducational groups, i.e. life skill groups and current event groups. Provides one-to-one contact with clients focusing on social development. ____7. Ensures compliance with all company policies and procedures and regulatory requirements, reporting any known or suspected violations to his/her supervisor or through other means identified in company policy. ____8. Assesses and ensures the needs of the clients are being met in relation to clothing, linens, and personal hygiene supplies. Supervises personal hygiene tasks. ____9. Escorts clients to work, mealtime, outdoor/indoor recreation, and education activities and participates in their supervision and instruction as needed. Transports residents to and from medical appointments or other activities as directed. ___10. Consistently meets facility and regulatory training requirements by attending all mandatory meetings and staff training sessions as required. ___11. Assures cleanliness and orderliness of the assigned work area/unit and proactively assists in all security, maintenance, and safety functions as required for the overall facility. Job Requirements The ideal candidate will: * Possess a minimum of a High School Diploma with 3 years experience in behavioral or mental health.
