Annual Security Report Notice

The part-time staff instructor will join a team of experienced and innovative instructors who plan, prepare, and implement lessons and other activities, assignments, and instructor-created formative and summative assessments for outcomes-based curricula. They must have credentialed and documented experience in the content being taught and demonstrate enthusiasm and skill at communicating that content to students and other participants.

Position Duties

  • Plan and prepare engaging outcomes-based lessons on the given curriculum for the course or program assigned.

  • Implement lessons in potential multiple formats including in-person meetings in Westchester, online via Zoom, and asynchronously using the Pace Classes learning management system (Brightspace) on the stated dates and meeting times for the semester or term taught.

  • Create value-added content presentations in online classes with self-recorded video, presentation software, and Pace University-provided interactive tools.

  • Source authentic materials and resources to supplement the curriculum, student learning, and (when available) assigned textbooks or resources.

  • Use communicative methodology for all English language courses, or a four-skills approach to all content and language integrated learning (CLIL) assignments.

  • Create and administer instructor-created assessments based on the course outcomes and objectives using a variety of assessment tools and assignments.

  • Submit required administrative updates and documents by given deadlines, such as but not limited to student academic and attendance concerns, course syllabus and schedule, complete assessment and grading documentation, assessment tools and/or examples, and final grades to the university registrar system.

  • Attend scheduled instructor meetings and respond to supervisor emails within 24 hours.

  • Promote English Language Institute (ELI) and International Special Programs (ISP) initiatives.

  • Performs other such duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Work Hours

Exact hours to be determined with supervisor; generally up to 20 hours per week.

  • M.A. TESOL, Education, or related field required - or - M.A. in an unrelated field with a TESOL Certificate.

  • At least two years of experience teaching ESL/EFL to adults and/or teens.

  • Native or native-like fluency in English with a strong command of both written and spoken English.

  • Strong organizational skills.

  • Ability to work on and contribute to a team.
