Plumbing (MEP) Engineer
Job Summary: Huitt-Zollars, Inc has full-time opportunity for a Plumbing (MEP) Engineer for our Fort Worth office with at least 7+ years' experience and will be a Registered Professional Engineer in the state of Texas. Certified Plumbing Designer preferred. This role plans, designs and produces plumbing and fire protection for multiple commercial building projects.

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering (BSCE).
Duties/Responsibilities:
Draft and design plumbing and fire protection, piping and equipment for commercial developments including water systems, sanitary and storm systems, fire protection water systems, underground piping, sprays, and hydrants
Support senior engineers/management in the design of plumbing systems and assist/lead projects.
General design and production of plumbing, fire protection systems, fire and gas detection systems, fueling and process piping drawings from preliminary stages to final construction drawings
Layout and size equipment, perform load calculations and investigate code requirements.
Provide technical expertise during the design phase (schematic, design development) to coordinate spaces required for those systems.
Coordinate between disciplines and produce working documents using AutoCAD and REVIT
Communicate effectively with all parties involved in the design, coordination and construction process
The successful candidate will serve as a member of multi-disciplinary design teams in the completion of studies development of plans and specifications for a broad range of projects
The candidate will perform Construction Administration duties (C.A.) during the course of project construction
Qualifications:
BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering
Texas PE with a minimum of 7+ years of experience in drafting and designing plumbing.
Certified Plumbing Designer preferred but not required
Strong AutoCAD and REVIT experience.
Knowledgeable in the design of domestic water, drainage, compressed air, vacauum and natural gas systems
Understanding of fire protection design, building and NFPA Codes, and capable of conducting sprinkler system hydraulic calculations
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Work experience on a wide range of plumbing design projects is highly desirable. In addition to commercial experience, preferred experience will include compressed air systems, vacuum systems, lube systems, medical gases, gray water systems, and contaminated wastewater systems

Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times
