As Plumbing Maintenance Mechanic, you will be part of a team that delivers and ensures a well-coordinated effort in the maintenance, installation and repair work on piped utility systems and fixtures and on the piping and connections of equipment.

You understand

  • plumbing techniques, codes, materials and procedures
  • safety rules, procedures and practices, including the proper use of safety equipment as defined by OSHA and industry standards
  • general types of tools in the plumbing trade including specialize equipment such as power augers and pipe threaders, powered bench and hand tools as well as non-powered hand tools.

A typical day will include

  • identifying, analyzing, diagnosing and resolving routine plumbing equipment problems and component conditions
  • recommending and participating in departmental plumbing operational developments, improvements and implantation as it relates to your workload
  • interacting with patients, visitors and staff in a courteous, respectful and caring manner

As a team member, you

  • read and interpret schematic and construction drawings, service manuals and other technical documents (sometimes with the aid of supervisor or higher-level mechanics)
  • follow instructions provided by blueprints, drawings, written materials, work orders and oral instruction.
  • communicate (written and oral) with supervisor and departmental/JHM staff

You have

  • high school diploma or equivalent and successful completion of a formal training in a state approved Journeyman Plumbing program.

  • Journeyman Plumbing license by the state of Maryland

  • 4 years of plumbing experience

  • effective verbal and written communication skills
