To provide plumbing installation and maintenance services that include using established engineering practices in correcting malfunctions; assisting with design, installation, and modification, performing quality assurance and code required testing; and performing preventive maintenance procedures applied to all types of plumbing and related mechanical systems in a variety of buildings. The position will be responsible organization wide for the Backflow prevention testing and documentation, medical gas system maintenance and certification, and legionella treatment program, also covering the areas of another staff plumber when they are off on earned time. Will be on call for off-shifts (6 pm to 7 am on weekdays) and weekends. Must meet requirements for on call which includes a 30-minute response time from activation/call to hospital.

Responsibilities
CONTINUALLY DEMONSTRATES THE ABILTY TO BE RESOURCEFUL AND EFFECTIVE. WORKS TOWARDS HIGHER LEVELS OF SKILL AND EXPERTISE AND ONGOING IMPROVEMENT OF BASIC KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS RELATED TO THE MECHANICAL TRADES.
Attends educational offerings to validate skills and maintain current knowledge of trade.
Maintains and update knowledge of current processes and practices as technology changes and advances.
Demonstrates initiative in communicating with other staff to ensure the proper completion of assigned tasks.
PERFORMS PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE FOR THE PURPOSE OF REDUCING THE SEVERITY
AND FREQUENCY OF MALFUNCTIONS OF EQUIPMENT OR SYSTEMS WHICH MAY IMPACT
BUILDING OPERATION AND USE. THIS PREVENTIVE MAINTENACE IS GUIDED BY THE ESTABLISHED DEPARTMENTAL SCHEDULES AND MANUALS WITHIN THE ASSET INFORMATION MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (A.I.M.S.).
Maintains 100% on-time completion of scheduled preventive maintenance.
Identifies potential risks/problems when working with plumbing systems and informs supervisor.
Completes documentation of work by completing daily time sheet, logs, and records in a timely manner according to departmental policies and procedures.
Assists in achieving department goals and objectives.
Assists with grounds and participates on the snow removal team.
PERFORMS REGULAR AND SPECIAL WORK ASSIGNMENTS TO MAINTAIN ALL PLUMBING AND
RELATED MECHANICAL SYSTEMS IN A FUNCTIONAL, SAFE AND SANITARY CONDITION WHICH MEETS THE REQUIREMENTS OF ALL APPLICABLE CODES INCLUDING THE ILLINOIS PLUMBING CODES.
Maintains knowledge and skills in diagnosing and repair of all plumbing equipment and systems.
Maintains knowledge of domestic water heating systems and distribution systems throughout the facility.
Performs preventive maintenance work assignments, testing and inspections for the purpose of reducing severity and frequency of malfunctions of equipment or systems which may impact building operation use.
Performs all work within acceptable codes, guidelines, and practices in the industry.
Performs all the above in a timely manner.
PERFORMS GENERAL AND SPECIAL WORK ASSIGNMENTS AS REQUIRED BY ASSIGNED
WORK REQUESTS OR SELF-IDENTIFICATION OF NEED. THIS IS ACCOMPLISHED IN A SAFE, EFFECTIVE, AND EFFICIENT MANNER FOR IMPROVEMENT OF THE SYSTEMS AND BUILDINGS BEING SERVICED.
Diagnoses problems with plumbing equipment and systems throughout the facility.
Provides continuous input on the status of the facility in regards to possible code/safety issues.
Performs preventative maintenance tests as required to ensure continuous operation of plumbing systems.
Provides diagnosis and repair of specialty items as requested by supervisor.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Requirements

Education:
High School graduate or GED equivalent.
Experience:
1-3 years of experience in/with having strong knowledge of applicable parts of B.O.C.A building codes, E.P.A. regulations, certain N.F.P.A. standards, O.S.H.A. regulations and DNV standards, as they relate to plumbing and mechanical systems.
License(s)/Certification(s):
Valid driver's license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.
Motor Vehicle Registration (MVR) must be run annually.
Licensed in Iowa as a plumber or willing to obtain within 6 months from date of hire.
Certification for the inspection and installation of medical gas systems preferred.
