The primary purpose of this position:

  • is to install, maintain, alter and repair plumbing systems components, underground utilities, air, gas, water, and waste disposal systems, within Juvenile Justice facilities
  • is to install, repair, and replace commodes, sinks, water coolers, water heaters, garbage disposal, dishwasher, shower valves, water faucets, flush valves and other related fixtures and equipment. 
  • will normally perform duties at the journeymen level of the plumbing trade. 
  • will be expected to provide assistance to other maintenance staff in other areas of responsibility at times. As such, this position will be cross-trained and able to perform or assist in the performance of other construction or maintenance related tasks as assigned.

This position is considered essential. Positions is expected to be at work despite weather conditions, work over to complete a job or may be called in at nights, weekends and holidays.

To qualify for this position, applicants must document on the application that they possess ALL of the following:

  • Working knowledge of the methods of installation and repair of plumbing systems

  • Working knowledge of basic blueprint reading skills

  • Ability to physically perform described work

High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of experience in the repair, replacement or construction of piping systems

OR

an equivalent combination of education and experience.
