Job Summary
Estrella Mountain Community College (EMCC) is hiring a plumber to support the facilities department. This position will perform journey-level plumbing installation, inspection, maintenance, and repair work on water, sewer, and other plumbing systems and equipment.
Essential Functions
50 % Performs journey-level plumbing installation, inspection, preventive maintenance, and repair work on water, sewer, and other plumbing systems and equipment along with the necessary repairs and alterations to plumbing installations including piping systems, valves, and fixtures for water, gas, steam, compressed air, storm drainage facilities, and waste disposal systems. Maintains tools, equipment, and work site in a clean and safe working condition
20 % Snakes and clears clogged pipes and roof drains
10 % Follows directions and meets standards along with providing attention to detail in assignments
10 % Reviews material needs and estimates job costs
10 % Uses modern office technology along with monitoring work order systems and Campus/District emails. Performs other duties as assigned commensurate to the grade level of the position
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED and four (4) years of full-time equivalent experience as a journey level plumber.
Desired Qualifications
A. Five (5) years of experience in commercial plumbing installation, maintenance, and repair work; performing routine inspections and preventative maintenance in an Educational Facility, Government, or Municipality.
B. Experience using a computer and relevant software applications
C. Experience prioritizing, organizing, and maintaining records and files
D. Experience in an education institution or campus environment
Special Working Conditions
Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications: Journey level card/license required; Possession of a valid State of Arizona Class D driver's license is required; must meet minimum standards regarding driving: http://business.maricopa.edu/risk-management/motor-vehicle-usage/motor-vehicle-driving-requirements
Positions in this class typically require: stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects including the human body.
Work is performed in both the field and in an indoor office environment with frequent exposure to atmospheric conditions (such as fumes, odors, dust, gases, poor ventilation, etc.); and moderate exposure to extreme temperatures, movement restrictions, or travel.
