Plumber
The position of a Plumber will be available immediately at East Central ISD. All individuals (district employees included) who are interested in this position must apply online through Frontline via the district website. The deadline for submitting an application is until the position is filled.
PRIMARY PURPOSE: Under general supervision, maintain the flow and drainage of water, air, and other gasses by assembling, installing, and repairing pipes, fittings, and plumbing fixtures districtwide. Maintain and provide for the safe condition and operation of all plumbing systems in district facilities.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assemble, install, maintain, and pressure test all pipes, fittings, and fixtures of heating, water, drainage, basic irrigation sprinkler, and gas systems according to specifications and plumbing codes.
Detected needed repairs on buildings, grounds, and equipment following established inspection procedures. Determine sources of plumbing malfunctions and complete repairs as indicated or according to work orders. Obtain bids and quotes on parts and supplies.
Install and repair pipes, fittings, valves, fixtures, and plumbing system equipment including sinks, commodes, and water heaters.
Receive and complete work orders. Select material and hardware and make time and materials estimates. Maintain accurate records on material and labor used.
Inspect jobs upon completion and ensure areas are clean.
Work with building technicians, principals, and supervisors to complete projects.
Respond to emergency calls as needed.
Complete preventative maintenance and compliance reviews and checkups on building and facility plumbing systems.
Review and follow energy and water conservation practices.
Transport workers and equipment to work sites throughout the district as needed.
Safely operate motor vehicles assigned to maintenance functions in strict accordance with the laws of the State of Texas and policies of the East Central Independent School District.
Inspect machines and equipment for safety and efficiency. Report problems with machines and equipment to the supervisor immediately. Practice care and preventive maintenance on tools, vehicles, and equipment.
Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, and climbing. Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures and practice safe handling of tools and equipment.
Wear safety and protective gear (PPE) and equipment at all times.
Correct unsafe conditions in the work area and promptly report any unsafe conditions.
Follow established procedures for locking, checking, and safeguarding equipment, tools, and facilities.
Maintain inventory of district-owned tools, equipment, and materials. Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment and ensure that equipment is in safe operating condition.
Review, participate and complete all Safety Training.
Perform other duties and projects, as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certificate:
High School Diploma or GED
Current Texas journeyman plumber's license
Clear and valid Texas Driver's License
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Ability to understand detailed written or oral instructions
Ability to communicate effectively and work independently
Ability to operate power-driven equipment and tools
Ability to lift and carry over 50 lbs.
Knowledge of basic construction and routine maintenance and repair procedures
Knowledge of plumbing repairs, maintenance, and installation techniques
Knowledge of plumbing codes
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics, and written reference material
Ability to perform mathematical calculations
Ability to diagnose and resolve problems
Experience:
Maintain required CEU's for licensure
Four years of plumbing experience preferred
EQUIPMENT USED: Plumbing tools and equipment including pipe bender, propane torch; hand tools; power tools; heavy equipment including a forklift, trencher, backhoe; light truck or van
WORKING CONDITIONS: Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing, sitting, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, twisting, standing, walking, crouching, stooping, reaching forward, and handling of various materials; will require occasional climbing of stairs and ladders and occasional crawling and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequent scaffolding, grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, and overhead reaching; frequent driving. Heavy lifting and carrying (50 pounds and over) on a daily basis. Work outside and inside, on slippery or uneven walking surfaces; frequent exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures, dust, toxic chemicals and materials, noise, vibration, and electrical hazards; work around machinery with moving parts; may work alone, regularly work irregular hours; occasional prolonged hours; frequent district wide travel.
