Auburn Athletics is excited to begin the search for a Plumber! This individual provides basic level skills and expertise to maintain, install, and replace plumbing pipes, fittings, and fixtures within campus facilities and infrastructure according to the National Plumbing Code.

Essential Functions

  • Repairs and maintains internal building plumbing systems as well as associated sanitary sewer drains. Fixes routine problems involving drains, toilets, urinals, sinks, faucets, fixtures, valves, and domestic water supply piping.

  • Installs plumbing piping, fittings, fixtures, valves, and other related appliances according to the National Plumbing Code as part of a project work crew or repair team. Assists in the repairs of water distribution piping and sanitary sewer piping.

  • Performs preventative maintenance on building plumbing systems including drains, strainers, and valves.

  • Will be responsible for meeting and maintaining training and certification requirements as outlined by the Auburn University Facilities Management Policy: "Training, Education, and Certification Requirements for Mechanical and Electrical Trades Personnel".

  • May be required to serve in an on-call status and remain work-ready when scheduled for an on-call period or rotation. Work-ready status requires an employee to return to the worksite within forty-five minutes while being physically and mentally unimpaired and fit for duty, able to safely perform all essential job functions with no risk to self, coworkers, students, public, or property.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Level I

  • High school diploma or equivalent plus 2 years of experience in installation, maintenance, repair, and operation of a wide array of components.

Level II

  • Some college; vocational or Associate's degree in plumbing systems, pipe fitting, HVAC systems, basic electricity, motors, digital systems, control systems, project management, leadership/supervision, or other related field plus 5 years of experience in installation, maintenance, repair, and operation of a wide array of common plumbing system components.

OR

  • High school diploma or equivalent plus 7 years of experience in installation, maintenance, repair, and operation of a wide array of common plumbing system components.

Level III

  • Some college; vocational or Associate's degree in plumbing systems, pipe fitting, HVAC systems, basic electricity, motors, digital systems, control systems, project management, leadership/supervision, or other related field plus 8 years of experience in installation, maintenance, repair, and operation of a wide array of common plumbing system components.

OR

  • High school diploma or equivalent plus 10 years of experience in installation, maintenance, repair, and operation of a wide array of common plumbing system components.

Minimum Skills, License, and Certifications

Minimum Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of the National Plumbing Code.

  • Knowledge regarding the installation, maintenance, repair, and proper operation of a wide array of routine water supply, water distribution, plumbing, and drainage systems.

  • Knowledge regarding common interior plumbing systems components such as water and sanitary sewer piping, fittings, fixtures, valves, and strainers, as well as exterior water distribution and storm sewer piping.

  • Knowledge concerning common plumbing piping types to include copper, galvanized, and PVC piping.

  • Knowledge of the OSHA Safety Manual and safety practices and procedures.

  • Knowledge of preventative maintenance procedures and practices.

Minimum Technology Skills Minimum License and Certifications

Level I

  • Valid Driver's License

Level II

  • Valid Driver's License

  • Valid Journeyman's Plumber's License required.

Level III

  • Valid Driver's License

  • Valid Journeyman's Plumber's License required.

  • National Inspection Testing Certification (NITC), STAR Plumbing Mastery Certification, or approved equivalent per Auburn University Facilities Management Policy: "Training, Education, and Certification Requirements for Mechanical and Electrical Trades Personnel".
