JOB SUMMARY:

Assists other technicians on 3rd shift to perform preventive and corrective maintenance on life-safety and critical building systems. Assists & conducts inspection of lab/mechanical room eyewash/safety showers and sprinkler heads. Assists in responding to flooding plumbing emergencies as necessary. Reports to 3rd Shift Supervisor. Communication & Customer Service is top priority.

JOB DUTIES:

60% - Essential

  • Plumbing Maintenance: Assists in approx. 800 Eyewash/Safety Shower yearly inspections. From floor to inspect visually sprinkler heads in or below ceiling. Assists in Unstopping blockages in all types of plumbing fixtures and building drains. Assists in Installs and maintains plumbing fixtures, water distribution pipes and fittings on drains, water and vent pipes and fittings, and other related equipment according to the Standard Plumbing Code.

15% - Essential

  • Assists in Domestic and Process Water Back-flow Devices Maintenance: Assist in scheduled visual and operational inspections/testing as required by DHEC and EPA guidelines. Assists & makes repairs as necessary to ensure compliance with DHEC standards. Assists in Maintaining DHEC certification for back-low prevention devices. Documents results using CMMS and DHEC procedures.

10% - Essential

  • Fire Suppression System Maintenance: Assist in scheduled inspections, testing and preventative maintenance according to National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and Clemson University Fire Marshal guidelines. Ensures reliability of sprinkler systems and related building fire fighting components. Documents testing, inspections, maintenance and repairs utilizing University Facilities Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).

10% - Essential

  • Campus Domestic Water and Process Water Systems: Assist in scheduled testing, inspections, installation and maintenance of campus domestic water and process water system specialties; including pressure reducing valves, water meter, check valves, strainers, piping and other related devices.

High and Low Pressure Steam Systems: Inspects, tests, maintains and repairs high and low pressure steam traps, regulators and pressure valves. Utilizes thermal imaging equipment to evaluate performance of steam and hot water systems and associated equipment. Documents test results through CMMS.

5% - Essential

  • Safety, training and Customer Service: Maintains a safe and clean work area and vehicle. Customer Service is high priority in all job duties.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent

Formal training or trades experience that is directly related to the area of employ

Licenses

  • Driver's License Class D normal < 26,000
