A Day In The Life Typically Includes:

During a typical day, you will utilize your advanced PLC programming skills to troubleshoot, maintain and repair PLC systems, computers, panel views and drives. Working both independently and within a team of maintenance technicians and management, being able to share knowledge and coordinate programming efforts with other departments will be essential to the daily functioning of the plant. With your strong desire to improve processes, your ability to work within a team, and your technical skills, you will be an integral member of the Sweetwater plant.

What You Will Need:

Basic Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Hands-on mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical experience

  • Experience maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electric circuits, control devices, and control systems

  • Experience reading and interpreting electrical and mechanical schematics, assembly drawings and equipment layouts

  • Experience troubleshooting process instrumentation, electrical components, motors, drives, circuits, pneumatic systems and hydraulic equipment

  • Experience with HMI programming to build new or modify existing screens on different platforms

  • Experience with PLC programming (Allen-Bradley experience desired), communication protocols configuration and troubleshooting

  • Experience troubleshooting and maintaining control panels and automated systems

  • Experience with SCADA systems and HMI development (iFix experience desired)

  • Experience with Configuration and troubleshooting process control instrumentation

  • Electrical experience with 480 VAC MCC and motors

  • Experience with the proper use of mechanical, electrical, and precision measurement tools

What Will Put You Ahead?

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two (2) year degree or higher in Process Controls & Automation

  • Three (3) or more years of PLC experience

  • Five (5) or more years of instrument calibration experience

  • PLC and HMI training certificate

Responsibilities: Completes repairs and rebuilds on engine products in the field Applies documented procedures and policies to complete basic repairs and schedule maintenance, including preparing required parts and tools Disassemble and clean engines and /or engine components Assists with completion required documentation, such as work completed documentation, time sheets, warranty claims and quality forms, via handwritten forms or business system input screens Completes training in line with skill and business requirements Maintains work area and tools for cleanliness and proper operation Ensure adherence to all relevant Health, Safety & Environmental policies, procedures and legislation and reports any issues / incidents to their supervisor This is a Hybrid Role which will require flexibility and will comprise of work in the Field, In Shop and On Site based upon business needs. Skills Skills Broad mechanical and /or electrical repair and maintenance capability Capable of external engine mechanical repair and maintenance with minimal supervision - practical exposure to working on diesel engines Awareness of Quick Serve Process Able to understand basic computer use Able to clearly communicate both orally and in writing Able to understand written instructions Ability to work safely and identify safety risks, including completion of any requires safety training and the Job Safety Assessment process Can resolve basic technical problems Able to work within quality standards Capable of developing effective working relationships Ability to use general numerical principles Ability to carry out basic repairs and scheduled maintenance on different product types without supervision Able to understand diagnostic tools Awareness and ability to access Cummins service support tools (such as Quick Serve On Line) and understanding of Microsoft Software Able to prepare required documentation to the standard required Education, Licenses, Certifications Apprentice Trained Engine Technician (Preferred) Vocational diploma from relevant technical institution Locally valid driving permit (Preferred) Experience Minimal level of work shop experience required Basic level knowledge of and/or experience with engine products Cummins and E-verify At Cummins, we are an equal opportunity and affirmative action employer dedicated to diversity in the workplace.
