Your Role

Join Atlas Copco as a PLC Programmer where you will coordinate, review, and complete PLC/OIT programs for Atlas Copco. As part of the Systems Engineering team, you will report to the Controls Engineering Team Leader and work with the Controls Engineers and System Engineering teams. This is a hybrid position located in Voorheesville, NY.

• You will create, review, modify, and help develop PLC/OIT programs for compressor packages and their associated auxiliary systems.

• You will interpret project documentation, standards, and customer specifications to create programming tasks with detailed descriptions and instructions for clear execution and deliverables by the Global Engineering Center.

• You will possess process control knowledge and the ability to read and interpret process and instrumentation diagrams, logic diagrams, and controls narratives.

• You will communicate with the Global Engineering Center and the Controls/Project teams to ensure programming is utilizing the latest revision of documents, clarify programming task expectations, customer requested changes, technical clarifications, and follow-up on open tasks to ensure completion.

• You will provide primary review of PLC/OIT programs to ensure accuracy before the start of the control system checkout.

• You will support the control system checkout team during the control system factory acceptance testing by providing technical support, modification of PLC/OIT programs, and closure of punch list items.

• You will provide PLC/OIT technical support for Field Service technicians during compressor commissioning.

• You will develop, document, and distribute standards, procedures, checklists, and presentations to improve accuracy, efficiency, and knowledge at the Global Engineering Center.

• You will provide feedback between the Global Engineering Center and the programming/engineering teams to support further development.

• You will support our efforts to improve throughput, reduce cost, and maintain quality.

To succeed, you will need

• You hold a B.S degree in an engineering discipline.

• You have 5+ years of experience with Allen Bradley PLC hardware and PLC programming.

• You have knowledge of centrifugal compressor operating philosophy and control systems.

• You are willing travel occasionally, including international travel.
