What We Do

The Directions team is responsible for Mapbox's Directions, Map Matching, Distance and Optimized Trips APIs and all the infrastructure associated with them. We're proud builders of solutions to problems in the routing space for industries like auto, logistics, outdoors and more. We solve complex geospatial data problems and leverage statistical analysis alongside live and historical traffic profiles to get users from A B as efficiently as possible. Our customers are primarily developers, like us. When they're successful, we're successful.

What You'll Do

  • Play a key role within Navigation in addressing our specific infrastructure scaling issues with AWS, CDN, monitoring, performance and etc.

  • Support constant infrastructure monitoring/diagnostics

  • Work with our core product teams to support foundational infrastructure needs

  • Set teams up for success with tools and processes designed to ease the burden of on-call duties

  • Automate!

  • Collaborate with a geographically distributed team

What We Believe are Important Traits for This Role

  • 5+ years experience in AWS/Platform related design, development or support

  • 5+ years Linux system administration experience, including troubleshooting, support, mentor-ship / training, and oversight

  • 5+ years with networking and network/system security, including firewalls, VPN, routing, switching, load balancers, monitoring, security and DNS

  • Passion to automate, passion to lower overall cost, passion to monitor availability of services

  • Proficiency with Node.js a plus, knowledge of a scripting language a must

End product may be special use, customized, or commercial software. Determines computer user needs; analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls; prepares operating instructions; designs and develops autonomous services, desktop applications, web applications, scripts, and utility programs. Ensures software standards are met. Complete understanding and wide application of technical principles, theories, and concepts in the field. Qualifications Education and Experience: * Bachelor's Degree or equivalent and seven (7) years or more experience designing and developing learning management platforms Desired Qualifications Maintained a Learning Management System including troubleshooting and fixing user issues and issues with course designs, system configuration and infrastructure.
