Job Overview:

Position that utilizes 2D or 3D CAD and internal tools to develop drafting deliverables (drawings, bills, etc.) for standard plate structures.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

  • Working knowledge of company tools and basic knowledge of company standards, procedures, and capabilities.

  • Deliverables are of high quality and comply with designs, company standards, and contract documents.

  • Performs work in a timely manner.

  • Performs duties with minimal supervision; however, supervision is required when learning new duties.

  • Performs limited checking.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High school diploma and at least one year of post-high school education or equivalent experience

  • Typically has 4 - 10 years of experience drafting standard plate structures or similar experience.

  • Working knowledge of CAD systems and drafting practices

  • Strong computer skills

  • Basic math skills, including trigonometry and algebra

  • Good people skills

This role will act as a liaison between customers and Cutting Tool Service Center (CTSC) to provide support with cutting tool point of use carts/kits, provide best fit cutter suggestion, problem solve cutter discrepancies, and assist with inventory management. This position will be located in Everett, Washington. Position Responsibilities: * Analyze the customer's process for correct speeds and feeds, holding devices, lubrication and techniques. * Interpret engineering data and analyze requests for configuration and manufacturing requirements. * Provide technical support in the revisions of the current National Aerospace Standards Specifications of NAS 986 (high speed steel end-mills), NAS 907 (high speed steel, single margin drills), NAS 937 (high speed steel, double margin drills) * Respond to and investigate drill issues and interface with CTSC, Tool Services, AOG and the programs as needed. * Apply knowledge of lean concepts, such as JIT, visual controls, poka-yoke (mistake proofing) to implement tactic 5 (POU) by working with the customers to design and implement cutter kits used to build the airplane. * Analyze kit reports to determine usage and adjust to ensure that the right amount of cutters are available in kits at the right place and time to complete standard work. * Partner with BPS and manufacturing to build the programs kitting program and provide maintenance for kit transportation, kit changes and continuous improvement opportunities. * Recommend process improvements such as improved labeling outside, Crib Master improvements, right sizing kits, cart rotation improvements * Serve as CTSC's primary contact (liaison) for all internal customers in order to respond questions and resolve issues such as missing drills, kits or carts, cutter performance issues, or grind concerns. * Work with CTSC kitting cells and Tool Grind operations to ensure issues are resolved in a timely manner. * Provide technical expertise for Lean Initiatives to support EIP, Supply Chain Management, Commodity Standardization, End-mill & Drill Production Control and ST Standardization Teams within Standard Tool Design Engineering. * Interface directly with Manufacturing Research and Development, Cutting Tool Service Center, Machinists, Mechanics, Carbide Persons, Management and Lean Teams in providing root cause analysis as issues arise within customer's manufacturing processes. * Provide training and reports to Mechanics and Management regarding kitting and cutting tools. * Maintain accurate records in Crib Master regarding drill kits and carts. * Submit work orders as needed to create new or change kits or carts, make improvements etc. * Respond to assigned work order Boeing is the world's largest aerospace company and leading manufacturer of commercial airplanes and defense, space and security systems.
