Dart Container has the ability to hire at the Associate and Mid-Levels

Responsible for assisting in the assembly, installation, set-up, operation, testing, and troubleshooting of thermoforming production equipment to ensure that machines are running at optimum efficiency.

Day-to-Day Role:

  • Set-up, operate, test, and troubleshoot moderately complex production equipment

  • Adhere to established tolerances and adjust machinery as required

  • Read and interpret drawings, schematics, and bills of material

  • Diagnose and repair moderately complex mechanical equipment and instruments

  • Operate power and manual hand tools

  • Monitor instruments and equipment and collect operating data including calibration, inspection, testing, and repair activities to assist in making adjustments to instruments and equipment

  • Devise, fabricate, assemble, and disassemble new or modified mechanical components and machinery

  • Provide technical support to engineers to achieve improvements in cycle-time, yield, unit cost, quality, safety and compliance of production and operations processes

  • Maintain an adequate spare parts inventory and order new or replacement parts

  • Collaborate with production personnel and other departments to gather information and draft reports, and improve equipment, processes, and products

  • Mentor other team members

Core Skills and Qualifications:

The ideal Associate level Plastics Processing & Mechanical Technician must possess all of the following:

  • High school diploma or equivalent and technical training or experience in manufacturing equipment and processes, mechanical or machine maintenance and installation

  • Proficiency in using powered and manual hand tools such as soldering iron, multimeter, wrench, hammer, screwdriver, etc.

  • Math skills to include decimals and fractions

  • Ability to read and understand technical documentation such as manuals, catalogues, schematics, or prints

  • Familiar with production tooling and equipment and testing equipment

  • Ability to learn and understand production processes, quality control, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture of products

  • Good verbal and written skills necessary in order to communicate intricate job-related processes

  • Ability to travel up to 50% domestic depending on department or team

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid drivers license

  • Requires the ability to obtain a set of basic personal hand tools, including but not limited to wrenches, hammers, screwdrivers, etc.

The ideal Mid level Plastics Processing & Mechanical Technician must possess all of the following:

  • Requires one of the following:

  • Associates degree with an emphasis in a mechanical or manufacturing process program and one (1) year of manufacturing equipment and processes, mechanical or machine maintenance and installation experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent and two (2) years of manufacturing equipment and processes, mechanical or machine maintenance and installation experience

  • Proficiency in using powered and manual hand tools such as soldering iron, multimeter, wrench, hammer, screwdriver, etc.

  • Math skills to include decimals and fractions

  • Ability to read and understand blueprints or drawings such as manuals, catalogues, schematics, or prints

  • Experience troubleshooting and repairing production tooling and equipment and testing equipment

  • Understanding of production processes, quality control, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture of products

  • Excellent verbal and written skills necessary in order to communicate intricate job-related processes

  • Ability to travel up to 50% domestic and international depending on department or team

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid drivers license

  • Requires the ability to obtain a set of personal hand tools, including but not limited to wrenches, hammers, screwdrivers, etc.

Develop moderately complex two-dimensional (2D) and three-dimensional (3D) design drawings and modifications for mechanical equipment, dies, tools, controls, and/or products using computer-assisted drafting (CAD) equipment.   Day-to-Day Role: * Complete projects of limited size and scope and coordinate the work with other drafters working on the same project * Investigate and procure all data required to construct CAD drawings, kits, or assemblies, and prepares manufacturing instructions * Process Bill of Materials (BOM) and engineering changes * Assist Designers and Engineers with design modifications and upgrades to existing tools, tooling and machines * Accurately finalize the documentation for the implemented changes * Apply basic Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) to drawings as necessary * Utilize CAD software, Teamcenter® PLM system, ERP system, and standard Microsoft® Office software * Develop knowledge of component functionality and application * Provide CAD modeling support to Engineers or Designers; under their guidance, make changes to existing CAD models * Perform measurement and examination of prototypes * Mentor other drafters   Core Skills and Qualifications: The ideal candidate must possess all of the following: * Requires one of the following: * Associate's degree with classes in design and/or drafting and one (1) year of design and/or drafting experience, OR * High school diploma or equivalent and two (2) years of design and/or drafting experience * Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models * Experience creating BOM or Parts List * Understanding of engineering drawing and principles * Understanding of materials and manufacturing processes * Strong attention to detail and accuracy * Ability to successfully prioritize, and organize multiple projects, deadlines, and tasks with little supervision in both team and independent environments * Good verbal and written skills necessary to communicate intricate job-related information * Understanding and application of decimals and fractions * Ability to learn how to use software and systems such as Teamcenter® PLM system and SAP * Will be working in an office environment approximately 95% of the time and a production facility approximately 5% of the time * Up to 15% domestic and international travel * Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license and passport * Requires a valid driver’s license and favorable motor vehicle report upon hire * Frequently use visual and color acuity If you experience difficulty applying online, you may call (800) 545-3278 Ext 3390 or email us at applicationassistance@dart.biz for assistance.
