Plastic Molding Technician

PLASTIC MOLDING TECHNICIAN

REPORTS TO: Plastic Shift Supervisor

JOB FUNCTION: To keep molding machines running properly in order to produce quality product on-time.

EDUCATION: High School Equivalent

EXPERIENCE: Previous manufacturing experience required, plastic molding experience preferred, prior experience with Arburg molding machines preferred.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

• 1+ year manufacturing experience required
• Plastic molding experience - required
• Strong knowledge base of hands on injection process and troubleshooting - preferred
• Experienced in plastic molding, trouble shooting, blending, and Arburg machinery - preferred

TRAINING: On-the-job training

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Sets and starts molds according to documented procedures and process guidelines.
• Keeps molds and machines running according to standards.
• Makes process adjustments as needed to maintain production rates and product quality.
• Troubleshoots and corrects mold and machine issues.
• Replaces basic components as needed: valve coils, relays, fuses, mold heaters, timers.
• Performs product inspections and measurements to ensure that product quality specifications are being met.
• Completes log sheets to record quality, process and mold information and any actions taken.
• Communicates with molding technicians on previous and following shifts.
• Other duties as assigned by management.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to stand and / or walk (being on your feet) for eight hours.
• Good vision, correctable with glasses.
• Ability to align molds which weigh several hundred pounds with a die bar.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs. - at least 10% of time
• Other requirements may be necessary as the job dictates.

HOURS AND BENEFITS:

The following information is dependent upon Union Contract and Company Policy updates, and thus is subject to change.

Starting Date: As soon as available.

Hourly Wage: $16.04-$18.81 per hour depending on experience. Paid weekly, and subject to standard with-holdings.

Shift premium: Paid when working 2nd or 3rd shift

Shift Assignment: Will train on 1st shift, then may be assigned to 2nd or 3rd shift.

Hours: 8-hrs minimum per week day

Overtime Pay: Time and one-half for hours beyond 40 per week, as well as other situations per union contract.

Paid Holidays & Vacation: 9 paid holidays

Pension Plan Contribution: Eligible after 60-days of employment.

Healthcare: Eligible 90-days after date of hire.

Life Insurance: Eligible after 90 working days.

Probationary Period: All new hires must complete a 90 working day probationary period and receive satisfactory reviews before becoming a regular employee. Employment during this period is at will and not subject to the terms of the union contract.

All new hires must submit to a background check, and also successfully pass a drug test and physical.

Union Membership: All hourly factory employees must join the United Steelworkers International Union after 30-calendar days.
