Come live and work on the beautiful South Carolina coast JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Each Lead Extrusion Machine Operator is responsible for setting up and operating plastic profile extrusion machinery to consistently produce high-quality products.

This position is further responsible for providing leadership, training, support, and guidance to less experienced extruder operators within the team. As a working lead operator, this position is responsible for performing extrusion die changes and adjustments, monitoring multiple extrusion machine controls, and performing equipment parameter adjustments to ensure product specifications and quality standards are achieved. This position also responds to any equipment stoppages or production line problems and assists other team members in resolving those problems.

The Lead Machine Operator plays a critical role in maintaining production efficiency, quality standards, and overall safety within the manufacturing facility. The Lead Operator also conducts routine equipment maintenance tasks and is responsible for maintaining strict housekeeping standards in the extrusion production area. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

Set up and prepare extrusion machinery for operation, including changing, cleaning, and adjusting dies, loading raw materials, and adjusting equipment settings based on product specifications Monitor the extrusion process closely, making real-time adjustments to equipment settings to maintain product quality and output efficiency Conduct regular quality checks on products being produced to ensure they meet required specifications and standards (both dimensional and cosmetic features) Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues or malfunctions that may arise during the production process to minimize downtime Perform routine maintenance tasks on extrusion machinery, such as cleaning, lubricating, and replacing worn or damaged parts, to ensure optimal performance and longevity of equipment Communicate constantly with management and production team members to maintain clear production goals and respond to critical priorities Maintain accurate production records, including product counts, product quality measurements, machine settings, and maintenance activities, to track productivity and identify opportunities for improvement Comply with all safety rules and guidelines to create a safe working environment and minimize workplace hazards Provide leadership and training for less experienced team members on the operation and maintenance of extrusion equipment MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or certifications in machine operations and maintenance is a plus Five or more years of proven experience as a successful extrusion machine operator, including three or more years as lead operator Detailed knowledge of plastic profile extrusion processes, equipment, and procedures Good knowledge of plastic materials and their characteristics Proven technical expertise with other standard industrial equipment Good mechanical and technical aptitude Detailed knowledge of standard product measurement tools Experience with preventive maintenance programs Excellent English language communication and listening skills Ability to work in a team environment and provide direction and guidance to team members Ability to stand for extended periods, lift heavy objects and perform physical tasks associated with the position Detailed knowledge of latest safety laws and health regulations EMPLOYEE COMPENSATION & BENEFITS: Dynamic And Casual Work Environment Within A Relatively Small Team Competitive Salary & Benefits Relocation Assistance Paid Vacation Time Company Description Screen Tight is a growing, family-owned company with three decades of proven business success.
