This position is eligible for a $2,000 Signing Bonus.
Perform Plasma spray operations in accordance with MTS procedures and work instructions. Responsible for maintaining all plasma spray equipment and sub systems, and providing plasma coated parts to internal and external customer specifications.
Major Areas of Accountability:
1.Operates the plasma thermal spray coating system, including but not limited to:
Performs material surface preparation through multiple methods including, but not limited to: sandblasting, abrading, degreasing, washing and masking.
Loads and unloads parts into the equipment
Manually sets up and operates equipment through a computer control system
Applies coatings by plasma spray system and monitors to process parameters and alarms.
2.Perform plasma spray operations in the following manner:
Takes initiative and makes decisions to meet customer expectations.
Provide constructive feedback to area supervisor on quality issues, trends and workload. Exhibit willingness to help resolve issues regarding schedules and priorities.
Interact and communicate effectively with all colleagues, including supervisors. Display ability to work as a part of team and across both shifts.
Operate and maintain equipment in a safe, efficient manner, utilizing process cycle time to complete multiple tasks. Identify safety hazards and involve appropriate parties to resolve.
Initiate creative and/or innovative ideas and shows willingness to implement them.
Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to work overtime and to meet schedule demands.
Maintain a clean and well-organized work area.
3.Performs normal preventative maintenance by following the Plasma thermal spray system's computer generated preventative Maintenance schedule for surface prep, plasma spray and safety systems.
4.Inspect and verify critical features both in-process and post.
Understands machining prints and meets print requirements pertaining to plasma thermal spray coating.
Understands and follows the Machine Shop routing system.
5.Sets up and operates Plasma thermal spray coating systems Robotic / CNC controllers.
High School Graduate and 1+ year applicable experience in a spray paint operator role, or equivalent applicable experience in a machine shop/spray paint operator role, or experience applying coatings through a spray process.
Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills.
Experience with the following: Computer controlled systems; computer generated recipe selections, automated operations using dust collectors, fans, pipe valves, gas flow monitoring systems, and safety systems.
Must demonstrate consistent attention to detail.
Must be consistent on following safety requirements and utilize PPE where necessary.
CNC and or Robotic controller experience ideal.
Strong computer file management skills preferred.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to work in a confined space (standing 80% - holding awkward positions 20%). The employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit and; walk; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis, carry 30-40 pounds and have the ability to operate crane/forklift. Must utilize proper safety protected clothing, gloves, ear protection, and breathing apparatus to fully protect against suspended/air-born dust particles. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
