GrafTech International has a challenging opportunity for a Plant Manager. This position is the most senior position on the site which is managed as a complete stand along cost center. Accordingly, the Plant Manager is responsible for providing leadership to, and management of production, health and safety, human resources, engineering, quality, maintenance, environmental compliance, and other functions on the site. As a standalone cost center the Plant Manager is measured on efficiently hitting production targets while staying compliant with all Environmental, Safety, and Quality expectations. This position will be located in St. Marys, PA.

Responsibilities:

  • Protect the health and safety of all employees, contractors and assets on the site by maintaining a safe working environment and culture.

  • Provide strong leadership to the plant staff, fostering a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.

  • Establish annual site operational budget and periodically update forecast, including throughput, operating expense, inventory and capital expenditures.

  • Ensure production targets, productivity, quality, and inventory levels are achieved as established in the business plan and refreshed in S&OP.

  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and providing regular reports to senior management on plant performance, highlighting areas for improvement and strategies for optimization.

  • Optimize plant cost position including variable costs and fixed operating costs.

  • Maintain all assets and execute capital projects to optimize equipment uptime and operating efficiency.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives such as lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other methodologies to optimize processes and reduce waste.

  • Interface with corporate leadership and collaborate with peers at other facilities.

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements, policies and procedures, including company, environmental regulations, labor laws, and industry standards.

  • Represent GrafTech in the community and with the local authorities.

  • Support customer and investor relations.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree required in scientific/engineering discipline:

  • 5 years minimum experience for Master's, or

  • 10 years minimum experience for Bachelor's

  • Demonstrated leadership in operations and/or engineering and or manufacturing management.

  • Demonstrated change management leadership skills and people development.

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively convey instructions, provide feedback, and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

  • Knowledge of financial concepts to establish value propositions and operational decisions.

Preferred Skills:

  • Strong leadership abilities to inspire and motivate teams, set clear goals, and foster a culture of collaboration and accountability.

  • LEAN Six Sigma manufacturing and processes.

  • Ability to analyze complex issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions to improve operational efficiency and resolve challenges.

  • Strong project management.

  • Experience in manufacturing environment processing extremely high temperature materials

Working Conditions:

  • Office and plant environment. May require infrequent travel.
