Position: Plant Tender Engineer

Context

• Cable production cost calculation is the responsibility of the plant, tender activity is growing (USA and abroad), and the scope of work is expanding. The high load in the plant, complex project tenders, and short deadlines necessitate the restructuring of the Charleston plant technical organization by creating this new position.

Purpose

• Responsible for calculating reliable and optimized cable production costs and durations for the Charleston Plant, including identifying investment needs and production process limitations/risks for each tender.

Areas of responsibility

• Responsible for providing cable manufacturing costs at the tender stage to relevant stakeholders that include clearly stated assumptions

• Identify investment (CAPEX) needs and manufacturing risks for each tender

• Maintain dataset used to justify line standards, CONQ/risk % used for each tender

• Responsible for maintaining cable manufacturing costing tool

• Contribute to the optimization of the manufacturing flow to reduce manufacturing cost

• Establish analysis of actual manufacturing performance against standard (OEE & MV)

• Ensure the accuracy of SAP data in cable manufacturing costings and support plant Finance dept in establishing SAP Masterdata for each project

• Establish BOM and check routings in front of production

• Participate in plant continuous improvement: identify ideas for process/manufacturing improvements; contribute to plant savings masterplan

• Together with the plant engineering team, contribute to the development of manufacturing capability to meet market needs

• Be a key interface between the plant and tender teams

• Participate in tender work in the plant by including the planning department, process engineers, product engineers, high voltage/material lab engineers, and the investment department

• Perform "lessons learned" sessions with relevant stakeholders at the close of every project to drive improvements in the accuracy of plant tender input

Expected results

• Provide accurate, data supported, cable manufacturing costs and durations to tender teams on time with all assumptions described and risks/investment needs identified

• Continuously improve the accuracy of plant tender input by using real-life data and lessons learned from past projects

Required skills and qualifications

• BSc/MSc in engineering (or similar)

• Fluent in English - oral and written

• Proficient with Microsoft Office suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc)

• Previous experience with SAP

• Precise, analytical, and detail-oriented

• Curious, involved, and will drive changes/improvements

• Strong communication skills - oral and written

• Team player mentality

• Long term vision
