OVERVIEW
The General Mills Buffalo plant sits in downtown Buffalo, NY, just off the shore of Lake Erie. The site manufactures over 475 million pounds of food service flour each year and almost 200 million pounds of retail cereal each year for popular brands such as, Cheerios, Lucky Charms, and Chex. The operation is 24/7 and utilizes 400 associates on site to support the manufacturing process.
The Plant Supply Logistics Planner is a member of both the plant team and the central planning team. They are responsible for developing the manufacturing schedule and raw material plan. They work with vendors, sourcing, transportation, operations, and corporate logistics to develop production schedules, support new items, discontinuations, and promotions. They manage inbound material flow, supply disruptions, product changes, build outbound orders, and manage material age. They partner within the logistics team to back up other planners, improve inventory accuracy, and manage costs.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Develop 3-month finite schedule and packaging schedule to optimize plant operations balanced with the needs of the business.
Build raw material plan to support manufacturing plant schedule, including placing PO's, expediting materials, coordinating material changes, and managing costs associated with raw materials using SAP ERP.
Support plant logistics goals of raw material days of supply and material disruptions.
Participate in rate setting process for manufacturing systems.
Deliver outstanding daily results through process rigor, attention to detail, sense of urgency and time management.
Have strong understanding of plant manufacturing floor capabilities
Communicate across multiple functions & levels regarding business opportunities & risk
Perform cycle counting and lead inventory accuracy efforts
Influence cross functional partners through root cause analysis for inventory control, vendor performance indicators, and transportation opportunities
Lead projects that support supply chain HMM and cost avoidance goals
Build outbound deployment and shipment plan, having agility to adapt to customer changes in a complex production environment
Manage rail fleet for outbound flour shipment and achieve plant demurrage target
Manage plant events that require scheduling/raw material changes with minimal cost implications
Communicate and build relationships with vendors for material procurement
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree plus 3 years of related experience OR High School Diploma/GED and 6 years of related experience
Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize
Embrace process standardization with comfort to adapt to change and be agile
Possess a high level of initiative and energy to influence and lead change
Commitment to superior customer service and ability to build cross-functional relationships
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
Solid computer background (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Ability to flex hours to support 24/7 manufacturing site
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, or business
SAP experience (APO/MRP/ERP) or other similar planning system
WMS experience (Blue Yonder or other)
OMP experience
Manufacturing plant experience

Salary Range
The salary range for this position is $67300.00 - $101200.00 / Annually. At General Mills we strive for each employee's pay at any point in their career to reflect their experiences performance and skills for their current role. The salary range for this role represents the numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, educations, skills, work experience, certifications, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.
